Some of you will remember the ladder i converted last autumn into an Arch,in the spring i added two Clematis, one Comtesse de Bouchaud is fine however the other Betty Corning while growing alright is to pale for the position where I am looking into the light to see it.

Betty is on the near side of the arch but as you will see it hardly shows even though it is over the top .

Astilbes are liking the rain and the Ferns are a preview of the next blog in a few days

the last pictures are really nothing to do with gardening other than my neighbour enjoys looking out on to it ,a year ago I published a few of her 99th birthday now she is 100 and here are a few more.

She received her card from the Queen plus a telegram from Ian Duncan Smith the pensions secretary(thats what he is wasting our money on)lol still it made her very happy, she had to be put to bed at 1pm after a few to many Baileys,What a dream to make 100 and be able to enjoy it .

What a great idea, that arch is a good bit of recycling and the clematis have done well, although I can see what you mean about not seeing it very well.
Lovely photo`s, really like the ones of your neighbour, she looks very happy with her cake and on such a special day she deserves a Baileys......

Aha! nearly missed this!! Lovely to "meet" your neighbour at last..sounds - and looks - like she had great fun, she's a marvel drinking all that Baileys..always makes me dreadfully thirsty!
Love the clems on the ladder..and Shirleytulips suggestion a good one...saw a dark and light clem in the same pot down the road from me and it looked fantastic!
