This a plant that has been dear to my heart for around forty years.
In 1970 it was being shown in Alpine Garden Society Shows in an 8in pot.
And for many years after it was small enough to keep over wintered to protect it’s early blooms in the alpine house, sadly I can hardly lift now so I do my best with fleece, this has been on and off for the past week, but i still think it worth it.If i get it wrong they are gone for another year, and i could cry.

Absolutely beautiful, worth all the hard work! it's been such a cold winter bjs. I'm in and out of the potting shed with plants that have arrived from the nursery much sooner than I anticipated.

I wish you success with your lovely shrub, bjs. I could cry when I look at all the losses I've had, but I'm getting on with removing and replacing.

I really don't know why I bothered to fleece things, bjs! I was told by a Nurseryman that fleece only made 2 degrees difference. That rather explains why my shrubs still died. :-(

How unusual and such a beauty, I would cry too if I lost one of these, keep the fleece on. I had an email of my Aunt in Australia, she said they have nt had a summer whats so ever, which was my thoughts about this country before I got her email. I wonder if you put polystyrene at bottom of pot before planting any thing would help or even covering roots for garden as they do do a floppy one.

What a very pretty plant - and so many flowers on it -let's hope it survives as it would be really sad if it doesn't. Still with your loving care I should think it will be OK - Best of Luck !

What a delightful plant, I know how you feel about protecting it from the winter, can you not take a cutting or several and start some more babies, just in case?

That is a beautiful plant, Bjs. I really do hope you are able to keep it going until we are into the warmer weather. Spring is so welcome after our harsh winter. Our garden isn't established yet...I've got all the worry of keeping plants healthy to come.

The temperatures have definitely dipped here overnight and the sunshine is in hiding today...grey skies :(

What a stunner Bj, another lovely white blossomed plant.. and I was told about putting polystyrene bits in bottom of large pots too. We have had quite a bit of sunshine in the garden, two of my peonies are already knee high. The third..under the wall where its still cold and damp, its just showing buds.
