A week of paving done

Well it’s been a week now and a lot of rain, gales and hardwork by my pavers..

They have almost finished the very back of the garden, they have just got to grout and clean them. I asked them to reuse the old paving from the patio to keep costs affordable, because even though it doesn’t look too nice at the moment by the time i’ve put a shed and small greenhouse, pots etc on there, you wont see much of the paving.

I’m hopefully going to get my house windows replaced soon, so i was going to ask them if i could keep the side windows. (not sure if this will work or be possible) Then try and build cold frames at the front edge of this paving where the soil is showing and gravel all the old paving at the bottom.

This is my patio and as i’ve said before i couldn’t stretch my budget to anything other than pressed concrete due to the size, they have started to put two large beds in and today they are finishing this off and starting the brick edges.

I’ve just been chatting with the lads and they hope by the end of tomorrow they will have all the patio done with the brick edging around the edges and beds, and hopefully the paving at the side of the house.

At their suggestion they have also buried my hose for me that goes to the back of the garden to keep it looking tidy.

They said that they should have the side paved tomorrow as well, then on monday start my drive. To be honest we had a few bad rain showers today while i was out shopping and i expected that they might have given up for the day, but no they were still working hard when i got back..

I’m very happy with the work so far, and it’s no wonder i had to wait a few months for them to start,as they were busy on other jobs. At this moment in time i wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to other people.

It's all coming along really nicely Bill - when your patio is all finished and you've set plants round it and put garden furniture etc on it the slabs will pale into insignificance.
Your men have done a really good job.

Looking splendid...and once you've added your finishing touches it will all come together. They are doing a very good job and it can't be easy with all the rain and wind to contend with (although I'm sure they are quite used to working in all kinds of weather).

Soon you'll be planting up and having fun sorting out that dirt area between the house and patio. Hope you've not missed too much sleep in the daytime with the racket of their cutters etc.

Looking good Bill. I can sympathise with the guys doing the work for you as i did all mine myself ... it's hard work.

Burying the hose to run to the back of the garden is a great idea. I ran mine along the fence with the power line for the sheds as i have a 135 foot long garden.

It will be great to see the rewards of your planting efforts in a few months time.

Keep up the good work

It's looking great ! They seem very copetant at their job. It's a worry today when you get someone to work for you, so I'm pleased to know you are satisfied with them.

They marked out the beds yesterday and cut the paving to the shape and now looks very nice with the brick edges.
Also I told them about this site and (hope you don't mind) showed them this blog and all your comments. He was very interested in all your comments and seemed rather pleased ! Can't wait for them to come on Monday and finish the patio and start the side and drive :-)
