Dropping By From Downunder

I realise it’s been a long while since I dropped by to visit my GOY gardening friends. It’s been almost six months I think since I last wrote a blog post.

Lots and lots happened to my garden last year, and it’s taken a while for things to get back to some semblance of normality. Right now though, things are looking pretty darn good and I’m feeling a lot more comfortable wandering around my garden at the moment.

Since I last visited, I’ve been busy with work. I’ve taken on some new duties and new hours, which means I don’t get as much time off any more. I do however have a three-day weekend which is truly lovely.

Our house is finally fully repaired and totally lovable once more.

The newly constructed pergola out in the courtyard has been finished for a few months now, and I’ve been busy establishing a new garden space underneath it. Most of what was growing there before was completely trampled by the workmen during construction time.

I’m pleased with the development of the new plantings so far.

It’s starting to come together nicely.

I’ve also been working on filling in some of the bare spots down the driveway, that resulted from the damage suffered early last year. In particular I’ve been working hard at building up the soil and planting up two new sections of rock garden on one side of the driveway.

I’ve also been busy trying to re-build and save the tiered garden bed area which suffered terribly during the flooding rains and cyclone last year.

It’s starting to look more reasonable and is now a little kinder on the eyes when you’re sitting on the verandah and looking towards that end.

It’s terrific to be able to enjoy the courtyard garden once more too, now that all the re-construction work is done once and for all.

The shadehouse garden continues to thrive and it’s a real joy to wander around in there after a long day at work.

So, all in all, everything is doing very well and I’m really loving being able to get out into the garden and just enjoy it once more.

For those who are interested, I’m including two links to my very own gardening blog.

The first link includes recent posts where I’ve documented garden journal entries over the last couple of weeks.

This last link takes you to my last Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day post where I highlight what was blooming at my place during April, which was our mid-Autumn month.

Thanks Carole. I'm certainly a lot happier now that everything's back on track around our place.

Thanks so much Yorkshire. I'll be the one with the smile of her dial these days!

Homebird, the place feels a lot more comfortable these days and both hubby and I keep on remarking that it's great to be able to enjoy the place once again.

Yes you're so right Pam. Last year is now almost a distant memory, thank goodness!

Thank you Balcony. I now feel that I can share photos once again and not get too depressed about the view.

Neellan, you're a positive thinker aren't you? To be honest, I think both hubby and I could have done without all the upheaval, but it certainly helped us to truly appreciate what we do have.

Samjp, I suppose there's always a positive somewhere isn't there?

Nariz, we're definitely feeling pleased with how everything is coming along now. It's a huge relief.

Hywel, I'm so glad you enjoyed the photos. I'm much more comfortable about sharing views of our place now. So very different to last year!

The garden is looking fabulous. You two have worked so hard over the past few months. I was thinking about you today when I rescued my jasmine from Steve's loppers.

G'day Sue. You know how happy I was to see my Jasmine coming back and now that it's started flowering I'm over the moon. It's fantastic having that fabulous perfume hanging in the air once again. Don't let Steve loose with those loppers too often!!!
