What's Blooming Downunder?

It’s early Summer here and I thought there might be some GOYers who would appreciate a look at what’s blooming here in my north-eastern corner of Australia.

It’s hot, humid, sticky, sultry, dreary … occasionally bright and sunny … weather at the moment. Typical of a tropical summer here … and the only time I go out into the garden is in the early morn or the evening!

In the gardening blogging world, today is Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day … when we post about all that’s blooming in the middle of the month. So click on the link below for a look at my garden.

A nice variety of plants.
Whatever weather you've got it's not as depressing as snow and frost.
Was I supposed to see something on that screen. I just saw black but could see photos if I scrolled down :o)

Thanks Hywel. I don't know how I'd go in the snow and frost ... I'd probably be just as cantankerous as I am right now in the heat and humidity!

Sounds like the blog page didn't load properly for you ... it does take a while if you have a slower internet speed. There should have been a photo of the hills and not just a black patch. I'm happy you did get to see some of the photos though.

whats the gorgeous pink flower at the top Berneih

as to the weather -- we generally like the snow for at the most a day!-- it turns to lumpy ice that you just cannot walk on! the only thing is at least we can wear lots of layers and keep warm ( also hot chocolate to drink and warming stew & dumplings to eat!) whereas when we get a' heatwave' anything over about 25 degc-- we mutter 'its too hot-- a nation of baby bears really -- we like things 'just right'!

Bloomer ... I'd love to share some of our warmth with you! Wouldn't miss it!

Carol ... thanks for your Christmas wishes. It will be a quiet Christmas Day but we're off to see the grandchildren on Boxing Day, so that will be lovely. Wishing you and yours a fantastic festive season!

Pamg ... I think the pink flower you asked about is Globbi winitii or what's commonly known as Thai Beauty or Mauve Dancing Ladies. It's a beautiful spray of flowers and lasts for ages. It makes a great Chrissie decoration out in the greenhouse!

Amy ... you're most welcome and I'm glad you enjoyed the show.

Joanella ... not to worry about the guestbook, it was lovely just having you visit! I finally got a great spider web shot ... I've been trying for ages!

Joanella ... just proves that practice makes perfect. If you take enough shots, eventually you get lucky!

Milky ... thanks for dropping by. Glad the Aussie drawl wasn't too jarring! The Greenhouse Garden is indeed one of my favourite spots ... I can see it whenever I walk around my house and it always cheers me up.

Bernieh, I love that greenhouse garden, it's so lush! Makes me long for a hot sticky summer day. I'll trade our cold for your heat any time.

Wonderful tonic Bernieh, fantastic show. It's only 6 days now to the shortest day here, and then roll on the spring.
Have a great Christmas.

Lauram ... yes the greenhouse garden is certainly lush these days after the rain we've been getting. I wouldn't mind a trade of weather for a day perhaps, but I don't know how I'd go after that! I know I can whinge about the heat and humidity ... yes I'm doing that a lot these days! ... but your cold winter weather might be a bit of a stretch for me!

Littlelegs ... you're really counting down the days! I suppose you're planning your spring garden right now. Wishing you and yours a great Christmas and happy festive season.

Terrific. I love the Chinese lantern hibiscus, which I met in the Furuma hotel garden in Da Nang recently. Also had a touch of nostalgia for the jacaranda flowers, which were superb earlier this season when I was in Brisbane. Thanks for such a rich array of wonderful flowers.
