Mirabilis jalapa, four o'clocks, can be started indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost...but they will also grow and flower very quickly from seed planted directly. they will grow in full sun or partshade. they like well drained sandy soil and will tolerate dryness. grows 18 to 36 inches tall, shrubby, selfseeder...they will also tolerate pollution and heat. they blossom in late afternoon and the flowers remain open all night...they have a wonderful sweet scent. Not a difficult plant to grow.

mine are grown in part sun/part shade. I couldnt't kill them if i tried and i have. Somehow they jumped to the total other side of my house which is in deep shade after 9am. In my area they start coming up in june and almost appear overnight, the flowers open in the evening. my dirt is not sandy but dark and rich, try adding compost. good luck

You will have to get someone in your part of the world to answer this, I am afraid, as they are not a plant I know over here.

Im growing them this year ( well Im hoping to ,in the Scottish weather ) there is quite a bit online about them but I dont think you should have any probs with drug addicts , it is well documented though that they are poisonous, Philp is right so take care handling them .Let me know how you get on with them .

Brug are poisonous if you injest them, If you injest a small amount it would give a high to much it will kill you, some people get an allergic reaction from handling them, so if you have sensative skin wear gloves, also don't rub your eyes after handling them. I have never known of drug addicts tracking these plants down. I say go for it i love the scent. All the best Philip.
