Hard work sinch March..............

Last year my next door neighbour built an extension, so my garden got somewhat neglected; so this year, I have been working hard to keep it up to scratch. Its only small, but in the front I have a wavy hedge, and behind that every year I put 10 planters filled with Busy Lizzies, Lobelia, and Petunias… on a row of bricks to lift them up, so that people going to work in the city can have something refreshing to see on their way to work. The are now blooming beautifully.

I get so much satisfaction after I have put my shoulder to the wheel and lifted, dug, planted and watered…just to sit down and survey the scene. Wonderful summer!

Your front garden sounds nice :)
I like to have an interesting front garden too. I like to make people feel happy when they look at it ...

I like to check out peoples gardens as I pass by and will say its nice to see one all planted up no matter what the size is, a colourful sight on the way to work used to jolly me along the way, even better on the return trip......

Unfortunately our front garden is mostly paved over. There are two mature, colourful Spireas and a path through the middle to the front door. The front is rather shaded but I wish it was more like a garden. Like yourself we have miniature apple trees in our rear garden, about 28 years old and 4 pears too. The apples often fruit one year and not the next. There doesn't seem to be a solution. If there is a problem one year it may not reappear the next year.

As I have just put in place 3 containers with fruit trees in - cherry, pear and plumb - no doubt I shall watch and see their progress; but its fun trying, isn't it?
