Kalanchoe. They flower in winter and like lots of food in summer and indirect light and humidity. You can cut them back after flowering and they will thicken up again from the middle of the plant. There are several flower colours.

I couldn't manage without my wolf weeder. Such a brilliantly simple piece of kit and so absolutely invaluable, oh and probably the bucket to put the weeds, etc into.

Andrew, I was given exactly that advice when I first started gardening: buy a couple of things in flower every month to ensure continuous colour.
Though with an almost 2 acre garden, the idea expanded somewhat.
