Sandringham Flower Show

Off we went to the Sandringham flower show , nicknamed the biggest village fete in the world ..
We hit the tail end of the queue at least 10 miles away from Sandringham , we sat in the car discussing wether we should abandon the idea , we could spend the entrance money at a garden centre instead ..
Silly us , we know our way round Norfolk we didn,t have to sit here with people that didn,t , we took the next road off , headed down the by-roads cutting across the country to finish up outside Sandringham gates …….

Sandringham show gardens are on a par with the likes of Chelsea according to TV gardener Chris Beardshaw who is among the judges
Each of the courtyard gardens are 5×4m plots , I have shown some of them here ..

They are judged on the day

This is only a fraction for you to see , tents , gardening equipment , marques overflowing with flowers of every size and discription

This was voted best courtyard garden in the show

I might pop in here later for a cuppa ….

I,m behind you

One of the plants I bought Papaver ’ lady bird ’
As we were walking back to the car park a low flying Tornado screeched overhead coursing a lot of the car alarms in the car park to go off . not ours luckily ..
Yes we did see Prince Charles and the Dutchess of Cornwall , I was so busy videoing them , that I didn,t have time before they moved on to take a photo …

Lovely blog, Amy. Glad you jumped the queue and had a good day. I love the circular cobbled garden and your caption on the bandsmen photo tickled my sense of humour :)

That's probably why it was so busy, cause the Prince came too. I love that ladybird poppy, such a good name too. Nice little settings, so I guess you are glad you did go instead of the garden centre.

Thanks everyone , some one from the Royal family is there every year Marquerite , it used to always be the Queen Mum .. in the Village of Sandringham the 'Royals' take part in village community life when they can such as going to the Womans Institute etc. the local people try to let them lead as normal a life while they are at home there as is possible .. .........

Lovely photos Amy, I like the cobbled courtyard too. I've been to Sandringham several times years ago when my Mum lived nearby but never when the Flower Show was on, or maybe it's a new-ish thing?

Sorry to hear that Lily .. it comes as a shock sometimes when you realize time has past so quickly , some times you feel as though you are on a roundabout wizzing round and you want to stop it and get of for a while ...LOL..

Know what you mean Amy. My pace of life is pretty slow now compared to what it was with 4 children at home but still the years fly past. Time goes even faster since I joined GoY!!!

GOY is to blame for a lot of things , I burnt another saucepan yesterday trying to catch up and cook at the same time ...LOL...

It doesn't work does it, trying to combine GoY and something else? My cat Daisy hates GoY because now she has to share my lap with the laptop and gets very little fuss. She goes and sits on my shins and feet in a sulk (I'm in a recliner in case you're trying to work that out ...Lol..)
