Moving nightmare Part 3

Dear all , I could write a book about our last year’s moving saga but I’m sure nobody would believe it you couldn’t make it up ..
We were up bright and early on the morning of our move being left with only our bed and a couple of chairs the day before .
It was the morning of the storm Georgina which you mentioned Mari it was in the murky half light we were able to survey the damage ,several fences had blown down leaving gaping gaps into the field and horror of horrors a huge tree had fallen across the drive leading down to our property , we had already taken our chainsaw over to our daughters for safe keeping so quickly rang a friend to bring his to help cut the tree up to remove it ,it was then we realized the removal lorries were waiting the other side they couldn’t proceed until the tree was removed .
A quick phone call to the newcomers arriving that day to apologize for the state of the fences luckily they understood our predicament ..
The completion papers didn’t go through until 4.30 pm that day so quite late by the time they had off loaded our goods into our new abode , Fish & chips were very welcome that evening..
Friday unpacking .. Saturday decided to leave the packing to go food shopping ..
On returning we tried to open the front door but couldn’t it was jammed , we couldn’t get in the back door because the key was in it , we eventually found a locksmith you’ve guessed it ,it was shut , I said lets go to a police station surely they must know a locksmith ,first of all we had to find a station being strangers in the area ,once found they were very good they found one arranging for him to come out to us .
2 hours later they arrived they couldn’t get in the front door so broke in the back leaving us until the following week they would have to change the front door locks for new ,it eventually appeared that a small section of metal had broken inside and that the door had previously been changed ..all this £500..
The next problem was the car stopped .. but then started again hubby decided it was the battery Luckily our son-in -law has a good battery charger which he lent us ‘just in case’ we definitely needed it several times we then had to find a garage where they put it on a diagnostic machine to prove it was the battery they then fitted it with a new one …
Oh and then we had a leak in the en-suite we initially thought it was condensation from the pipe but as the carpet became wetter and wetter we soon suspected it was more than that ,luckily it wasn’t too big a problem some loose connections it hadn’t been used for months ..
We’ve finally finished unpacking the removal company came yesterday to take the packing cases away .

I almost forgot our daughter was coming over on the day we moved in to help us but the previous evening our grandson was taken into hospital in dreadful pain they had him in all night and the next day before deciding it was his appendix he had an operation the following day ..

BT arrived yesterday to put an extension in for my computer so here I am back in the land of the living …Fingers crossed ….

I’ve hardly had time to even look at the garden I know it need a lot of organizing I have pots & plants piled up everywhere I guess it will be spring before very much gets done ..

Brian’s gift dug up and brought with me ..

I’m so glad Dawn reminded me to dig up a tray of Aconites the day before we moved ..

A large patch of heather to one side of a path
Its going to be interesting to see what plants appear this year .
Just a thought I suppose I must delete all my previous photos to start again !!! ..

We booked into the surgery where we were asked to have an MOT which proved we both had high Blood pressure ,there’s a surprise !

Oh Amy what a nightmare for you, hope your grandson is on the mend.I wish you all the very best in your new home and happy gardening.

2 Feb, 2018

Oh Lordy Amy....what a catalogue of catastrophes....did you ever think you were meant to stay? Fancy the huge tree coming down across your drive, as you say you couldn't make it up! Oh my word, fingers crossed, the storm is now over and you have a calm free run up to summer where you can enjoy your new home and garden..Xx

2 Feb, 2018

Oh dear! I could hear ...180 .....when I got to the blood pressure info, and I'm not surprised. You must have been worn out.

All good wishes for the years in your new home, and for your grandson.

OH Amy Amy Amy bet you can hardly remember why you decided to move ,how about a Caribbean cruise to bring the blood pressure back to normal.

2 Feb, 2018

Poor Amy, moving house is one of the most stressful things we do in life! Hopefully one day you can look back and shake your head in disbelief how you managed it all! Look forward to seeing how your new garden develops!

2 Feb, 2018

Oh no Amy ! and there was I,thinking you were busy in your new garden already ! what a nightmare..as you said, you couldn't make it up ,could you ? but, surely the worst must definitely be over now ,and I hope you are starting to feel like you made the right choice in moving..
I do hope your Grandson is well on the way to recovery now too, poor boy..and so glad you live so much nearer to your daughter..I trust both you and Tony are back to a normal BP reading..and no,I wasn't surprised at that !
I wouldn't delete all your photo's from your other house,if I were you,as it's so nice to look back sometimes, and also to read the comments..also, you may want a reminder of some things..a certain plant etc..
Anyway,Amy,I am happy to hear from you again, and hope it's all plain sailing from now on..you have both been in our thoughts..:o) xx

2 Feb, 2018

Oh....my word. What a trial...well..many trials Amy. Hope your grandson is fully recovered. I hope the blood pressure is returning to normal now. Talk about stress! Welcome back, and take it easy for a while. You have plenty of time before spring to get in the ga4den. I hope yo are at least happy with your new home after all the trouble you’ve been through for it!

2 Feb, 2018

Oh my friend, you don't deserve all this, let's hope all the bad luck came at once and things can settle down.
Your aconites are flowering all over the country Amy, so pleased you remembered some for yourself.
Why don't you open a new account like Karen did and then all your previous blogs and superb photos can remain and be saved. You could be Amy2 x

2 Feb, 2018

oh poor you, you have been throw the mill.

don't delete your old photos they are wonderful to look at.
and lots of photos of the new one so we can see what you have and how it develops. :o)

2 Feb, 2018

You certainly have had an unbelievable move. I do hope you can now relax into your new home. Look forward to seeing photos from your new garden. Like other members say it would be a pity to delete your old account, we have enjoyed those photos.
I hope you will be happy in your new home now.

2 Feb, 2018

Well I suppose the good news is that you've finally moved house despite everything that went wrong so now you must take it easy & not try to get everything sorted straight away. After all the stress I'm not at all surprised at the BP results. It's certainly been an awful & expensive time for you both.
At least BT didn't take too long getting you connected.
Be happy & enjoy your new home.

3 Feb, 2018

Congratulations on your move. You made it, that's the most important thing. Hope your grandson is getting better soon.
It's probably too cold in the garden right now anyway, get the house in order first. You had quite an adventure there, now time to relax. Just take it easy.

3 Feb, 2018

You poor souls.
This is some saga. You woulddn't believe it could happen would you? If sympathy could help you'd have loads from all of us.
I hope your poor grandson makes a quick recovery.

The garden will still be there when you feel able to face it - what a good thing you had a couple of days off at Christmas. And the moral of this story ? Resolve never to move house again....

3 Feb, 2018

Well, what can I add to all that. It almost seems like you weren't meant to move , the way everything conspired against you but I'm sure that's not the case & that all will be plain sailing from now on. Take a breather for a while to give yourselves time to recover. I hope your grandson is over his op & recovering fast Look forward to following the progress of your new garden, plenty of time for that. Best wishes Feverfew.

3 Feb, 2018

Even my vivid imagination would never have dreamt that so many things could go wrong when moving house. You certainly had a rough time of it and then to hear your grandson needed an operation but have been the last straw.
First of all I hope he is recovering well and secondly I hope that you and your husband are too! From now on I truly hope that things will settle down and life will become much easier for you both.
Hope you are now beginning to enjoy your new home and looking forward to seeing the hidden treasures in your garden.
Take it nice and steady.

3 Feb, 2018

May I suggest that you don't get rid of your old photos, Amy? I found mine a major source of solace.
Would you have moved, had you known the wringer you were stepping into? It took me two full years to really feel at home. So, blessings on you; I hope smooth sailing awaits.
best wishes to the family...
Lori xo

As you can see from all your GOY friends comments, we are all routing for you Amy, so shut the door on all the disasters, and take a deep breath.....onwards and upwards.....things can only get better from now on......Spring is just around the corner, the perfect time to plan a new garden.
Enjoy your new life.......all the best Angela xx

It never rains but it pours Amy :( I hope you are recovering from your ordeal. It all sounds horrendous !

You don't need to delete your lovely photos and blogs, that would be a shame. Just continue with your new garden.

As an alternative you may like to get a new account and leave the old one open.

Take it easy. You've got forever to unpack. I still haven't finished unpacking since moving here lol xxxxx

It's wonderful to have good friends here on GOY helping us on our way ,I'm going to do as you say and keep my old garden photos they will be useful as I've brought so many packets of seed from my garden it will be good to look them up for identification ..
I'll probably do as Dawn suggested and start a new profile Amy 2 ..
The cruise is a nice idea Brian I can't see it happening anytime soon :o(
It's lovely being nearer to our family they have been such a help ,Ryan is recovering from his op.but his wound is still ( Leaking ) which was worrying but Dr. said it's alright , he should know !
Son-in-Law put up a new loft ladder after OH 'silly man' propped a ladder up which slipped under him he fell from the top to the bottom , I expected the worst as he lay there in a crumpled heap , he was incredibly lucky only having a badly bruised arm ...

Each day goes so quickly ,I'm on picture duty today and am choosing places to hang them I didn't know we had so many until they were all piled up in one place ..
Amy x

5 Feb, 2018

Lovely to see you have time to pop in and see us.....all the best to you both and keep off the ladders!

5 Feb, 2018

After such a terrible ordeal with moving you need to take easy for a while. Things will still be where you left them waiting patiently for you to put them in their final positions!

5 Feb, 2018

Amy, I feel the bad luck has now passed, onwards and upwards.
:-)

5 Feb, 2018

Good to hear Ryan is on the way to healing after his op.
I can understand you want to get everything sorted but as others have said 'take it easy'.
Picture duty sounds good to me unless Tony passes you the drill ...

6 Feb, 2018

Gee Tony, ladders are like wayward horses...they slip sideways on you every once in a while!... (that's my experience).. hope the arm is better so you can help Amy hang those pictures! It's such a relief to hear that you're finally situated. Your medals of valour are in the mail! lol...

Each day brings new challenges top of the agenda at the moment when we get time is new wardrobes we had fitted wardrobes previously and now we haven't I can't find anything our clothes are all crammed into 3 small ones in other bedrooms ..
It's lovely to be nearer our family our daughter and her friend are calling in this morning after they have taken their dogs for a walk ,I have the cream buns ready , Ryan has recovered from his op .and was determined to go back to work last week even though he was told to have more time off ..
Lori I will wear my medal with pride Xxx

10 Feb, 2018

We moved last year Amy,and had the same problem fitted wardrobes in last house nothing in our new one,I bought a couple of those clothes racks on wheels, they helped us out, while we got wardrobes fitted, they are now in the loft, shame you don't live near us you could have borrowed them.Very glad Ryan is on the mend.Enjoy your cream buns with your daughter,it is lovely living by family that is why we moved.

10 Feb, 2018

I think T and I did things backwards... we moved to the country, away from our sons. They're busy working in the city. We're busy(?) keeping warm in the hills! I dream that someday they'll come and take over here.
So happy for you and T. Things may take a bit of time to be sorted but you've done it! Happy Days!

10 Feb, 2018

That's the worst bit about downsizing - not enough space.
We have a large double wardrobe but it's crammed full & no space to fit in an extra one.
Very pleased to hear Ryan is doing so well, hope he doesn't overdo things too soon.
Enjoy your cream cakes!

Thanks for the thought Callie we have managed to borrow one of those clothes rails you mean it does help ..
Lori ,Mari I've been trying to set up a new profile to start off a new garden plant list called Amy2 but it won't accept me because my email address is the same ,I would rather not delete my plants list on this site ... I'm not sure how to overcome the problem ? ...

11 Feb, 2018

I don't have a plant list,Amy,so can't help you in that respect, but I'm sure someone on here will be able to advise..at least, you know you could just carry on as you are,but anything you don't want to keep, you could always delete..I've done that with several of my photo's and blogs ,over the years..so time consuming though,as you will end up reading everything as you go along ! Lol xx

11 Feb, 2018

Good to see you are making some progress, Amy, with getting things sorted out! Hope you enjoyed your time with your daughter & the cream buns!

You could always sign up for a new email account. I've got 3 on Yahoo! 1 on Hotmail & at least 4 on Gmail! We changed Internet provides a year ago & so got another one with them, though I had to let go of the old one I had with our old provider - I'd had it for 15 years! Though I have a Hotmail account my kids signed me up to before we even had internet!

In case you wonder why I would need so many accounts it's because my Hotmail one wouldn't work & so I got my first Yahoo! one. Then over the years I've had to get new accounts for one reason or another - especially for Skype as I seemed to lose the password to get in & had to open a new account.

11 Feb, 2018

Amy, I just have 2 email addy's, 1 for personal & 1 for everything else. Open a gmail, hotmail, or any other.

12 Feb, 2018

I've changed to Amy2 folks for my future new garden info ... I used my gmail address thanks for your help ,silly me I assumed I would have to use the same email as the original , I hate all these different address I can never remember which one to use ... x

12 Feb, 2018

I’m going to look for you but maybe you need to post a pic or do a blog so we can pick you up x

12 Feb, 2018

Hi Amy! I didn't want to lose my pictures from 2008 on..so I got myself a second email address. But, if you don't want to change anything with regard to your email you could (for the plants list), add a notation: ex: the date, and Amy2 at the top like a flag and put a notification on your profile that you've started a second plant list.

13 Feb, 2018

I've used my other gmail address Lori I'm now officially Amy2 , it's like being a spy Ha ha xx

13 Feb, 2018

17 Feb, 2018

Well Amy after so many misfortunes things can surely only get better and spring is just around the corner so you will have to steel yourself and take things slowly and carefully, you will get there eventually and end up with another beautiful garden.I hope your grandson is on the mend now at least you are near enough to see more of the family and enjoy cream buns with them.

18 Feb, 2018

Thank you Stroller ,I'm pleased to say Ryan is better and insisted on going back to work ,we think it was to soon but as he had only started work in September he didn't want to be seen to be having time off already ...
