Happy Christmas Everyone

I firmly believe Christmas is off our agenda this year , what a nightmare this moving lark has turned out to be ,one delay after another ..
Some of you may remember we have an Arcon in our garden it’s the kind of building people lived in after the war it has an Asbestos roof , we’ve never use it for anything other than storage Hubby use one room as a train room the grandchildren had a full size table tennis set up in another also room for lots of gardening stuff ..
The people buying started to be concerned about the safety of the Asbestos as they have plans to make it into a livable building for their son , we had to get 3 Asbestos specialists in to prove it wasn’t harmful unless they cut into it ,burnt it or damaged it in anyway , they finally agreed they still want it anyway …
We sold our dining room suite and have ordered a new one to be delivered to our new address .. . thankfully we have a kitchen table ..
We’ve had a phone call from the solicitor to say completion will be next Thursday that being the day we should move out and the new owners move in ..
But guess what we can’t find an available removing company they’re all booked up and busy .. I can see us camping out with all our possessions around us ..

Wish us luck .I really do wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year ..Hopefully I’ll be back in 2018

Oh goodness...you are really in the thick of it Amy. Remember we hired a ‘man with a van’ to save money. They couldnt have been friendlier, more helpful or more careful. Don’t worry, you will find someone. Sounds like the worst of it is over now......enjoy your new home. X

Fingers crossed for you Amy.

Oh my! I hope from now on the move goes better for you and whatever kind of Christmas season you may have, I wish you well!

8 Dec, 2017

Oh Amy. Do hope that it's true that things can only get better. All the best with the move and with the Christmas festivities.

I feel your pain. We moved 2 years ago and never again! I can see why it's classed as one of the most stressful things we do. We had the same problem with asbestos. We had lived in the property for over 40 years with no problems, but ouR 1st set of buyers pulled out because of it and the 2nd set of buyers wanted to deduct some money to deal with it. In the end we agreed, because it was getting too stressful.

I wish you luck and every happiness in your new home.

Reminded me of years ago, when a Solicitor marched into my life and demanded I had to move on the date he dictated. I often thought afterwards if someone had been ill it couldnt have happened.
Stand up to him Amy. No removal men with van, no move.

Oh dear Amy, I do hope you can get this resolved and can have a Christmas with peace of mind.

I remembered after I posted this advice, it was Christmas
Eve of all days. He was just wanting to get his money into the bank, they are all the same. Stand up to him !

Bless you Amy, it sounds awful!

Moving house is never easy but you seem to be having a really difficult time.
From now on I hope it gets better for you and that your next blog will tell us that you are happily settled in a lovely new home.
Very best wishes for your move, for Christmas and for 2018.
xx.

Hi Amy, Nothing ever goes smoothly, does it :(
It's difficult and stressful right now, but in the long run this move will be the best thing for you all. In a few months you'll look back at it as just a memory and then you'll have the spring and summer ahead of you, to sort everything out ... including you new garden, which you'll have to show us pictures of :)
All the best, and have as 'merry' a Christmas as possible :)
Love from me and Beryl and Bella xxx
and please give our regards to Tony

Our Marley garage has an asbestos roof and we want a new one next year. Looks as if we will have to start looking for specialist removers!

Well we're all routing for you, Amy. Don't be bullied into moving when they say, I know you want to get this done & finished but you've been messed around so much now tell THEM when you can move out.
Enjoy Christmas with your daughter, all the best x

There is a firm called Wardle & Keech in Kettering, been here years, they do all the packing and wrapping for customers included in the cost. Not too far to Norfolk.
No, I dont know where you are moving too.

Good Luck with it all Amy, fingers xx you find a removal van with some helpful people, I certainly don't envy you, hoping next year it will go down as a memory best forgotten..
Merry Christmas to you and hoping with a new home and garden that 2018 will bring new beginnings and lots of rewards your way....

Oh Wow! How did our parents and grandparents survive, everyone seems to go mental over a bit of asbestos now, specialists in decom. gear looking as if we have been invaded by aliens, just to move a bit of asbestos which has been OK for donkey's years! I know it can be dangerous, but it's only one sort and most of the countryside is riddled with the stuff. People can be crabby about all sorts when you sell, we had problems with a broken newel post on the stairs and a unstable paving slab - told them to ram it!
Best of luck with the move, you'll soon forget all the problems.

Thank you all for your comforting words and advice , guess what the solicitor rang to tell us the exchange didn't take place after all and that it should do so tomorrow (Monday) making the completion date next Monday the 18th , will we move before Christmas I very much doubt it the only light at the end of the tunnel at the moment is that there is a small removal company free that week if it goes ahead ..
Lisam the people buying our place tried to deduct £15.000 because of the Asbestos we said no we would withdraw from the sale if they wanted that ,it's not our fault they want to renovate the Arcon for their son to live in , they soon said they wanted it anyway ...
Eirlys if you Google how to remove Asbestos from a garage you can do it yourself providing you do it safely plus garage Asbestos is apparently low grade ..
Sandra & Tabletnerd that bottle has already been opened Lol ...
Thank you Hywel Tony sends his best wishes and hopes you're keeping warm in them there hills :o) Love to Beryl ,Bella and yourself Happy Christmas to you ...

Its a comfort to know so many people are rooting for us ,Lots of kind thoughts and love to you all .
I'll keep you updated as once we move I'm not at all sure how long it will be before we're reconnected with phones /computer etc. Xx

Well the solicitor cant dictate to people they move in this snow, so thats got rid of them and their orders !

10 Dec, 2017

Hope everything soon sorts itself out, Amy. 18th December is a good moving day, we moved from London to Kent on that day in 1972! Had a couple of moves since then of course but I remember it as a very happy day. Good luck to you. At my daughters today as no internet at home for the last 9 days since changing supplier. Very frustrating so I will take this opportunity to wish you a happy Christmas in case I am still without later in the month. God bless :)

Wishing you all the very best in your move to your new house, Amy. We have moved house on a number of occasions but never having had much furniture to move we have had relatively little trouble. Again as we have never owed our own house we have never had to go through the hassle of buying & selling a house! Says something for renting!

Hope you are able to settle down in your new house in time for Christmas & looking forward to seeing your new garden during 2018.
