A Holiday in Scotland

Hello friends , Its catch-up time , we’ve been on holiday to the not so sunny Scotland to be honest it rained almost every day …
The first few days of our journey were spend in Lancashire visiting our son & Grandchildren which lent its self the perfect opportunity to meet up once more with out lovely GOY friends Carole ( Pansypotter) & Sandra ( Bloomer ) also their husbands Harry & Russell .
we were able to enjoy viewing Carole’s very pretty garden 1st hand it seemed surreal after seeing it so many times on the computer I can tell you its just as charming as you see it ! we then went on to enjoy a delicious meal at the local pub and then for afters some of Caroles yummy scones filled with jam & cream … Thank you Carole , Sandra & Hubbies for making our visit so enjoyable x
I’m afraid the photo is pretty terrible as I propped the camera up on a bird table ( almost knocking it down if I remember correctly ,sorry Carole ) to take an instant self timed photo and then dashed into place before the flash …

We then continued our journey up to Scotland where we met our friends who we spent the rest of our holiday with ,we were able to spend one night at a hotel on the Isle of Skye I can recommend it for anyone arriving on a rainy night as they have a wonderful restaurant and a fabulous room with a snooker table which we made full use of ..
At this point I will just put some photos on of some places we visited ….

Cairngorms

Old Spey Bridge

Loch Ness

Carrbridge pack horse bridge

Eilean Donan Castle

Knockando Woolen Mill

Knockando Woolen Mill again …

Portree , Isle of Skye

Edinburgh Beach the Cramond fish …

All photos in no particular order , Thank you for looking .
… I will endeavour to catch up with your photos and blogs in due time ,we have loads to catch up with here as you may guess our garden needs a lot of attention to get it back into some kind of order …

Is this Nessy ..or what ?

Nice to have you back Amy and how nice to be able to meet up with other friends from GoY. That's a super pic of you all. I've only been to Scotland once years ago, on the west coast and we were bitten to death by midges. However, your holiday looks to have been much better, despite the rain. The wild lupins by Old Spey Bridge look wonderful and the shot of Eilean Donan Castle is classic! Glad you enjoyed the break.

I knew Nessy existed all along but nobody believed me; maybe this will change their minds. Amy, your blog reminded me of an old campfire song - "Here we are together, nevermind the weather..." You've mentioned a few familiar names on here, I'm glad you had a nice time.

No Midgies last week when we were in Fortwilliam.

Of course Nessie exists Bathgate🐉how could you doubt it!

The only time I was seasick was on Loch Ness.......she was stirring the water well that day 🌊

So sorry I missed you Amy. You could have added us to your list. We were in London tho' and Barry ended up in a wheelchair so perhaps not. Next time let me know. Karen is coming here in August. It is always nice to meet GoY members.

Sounds like a good holiday in spite of the weather, Amy. Reminded me of my honeymoon (many, many years ago!), we toured Scotland, visiting Skye and several other places you mention. We didn't see Nessie though - you were lucky to spot her :)

I saw lots of selfie sticks in the service stations afterwards but even then didn't think to buy one ! Karen you must go to Knockando we loved that name and couldn't stop singing it ,Knockando ♫ Knockando ♫ Knockando ♫ Lol .. Waddy having been to Scotland many years ago I was prepared with sprays etc. ready for the Mozzys but our friend Alan wasn't he was covered in bites and was itching all over he used all my stuff ! do you know what the Lupins grew along almost all the rivers they looked wonderful , Thanks Junna I'm glad you enjoyed seeing our friends , Thanks Bathgate I'm glad you were able to see the proof of Nessy I loved your Rhyme just right for us ! What beautiful photos.

I love the first one because it is so lovely to see evidence of the friendships formed on this site.

The old Spey Bridge would look so nice in a frame, it is very charming. The Cairngorms were stunning too.

Glad it all went well and you saw so many wonderful sights.

Sorry I missed it then Amy. We just went on the coach from the guest house to the slopes and it was evening when we got back - no time to look at the village...

I'm glad you had a nice holiday Amy, and nice to see you met some friends too :) x

Aww, you had lovely time over there. I liked Scotland, when I was there last May. Very nice nature and parks and gardens. I love that stone fish. Very cool.

Barry lifted some heavy paintings once too often. We arrived at Luton Airport and he couldn't walk. It took us ages to get to our son's and we were not able to go to The Royal Academy Schools Show that evening. I went to The Royal College Show on my own. My son managed to get us a wheelchair so we could get him around London and he is using crutches at the moment. Swelling in his lower back is pressing on a nerve in his lower leg. Sleeping is difficult. Life is a bit slow at the moment. My son is coming up from London at the week end to sort out the studio so that Barry stops lifting heavy paintings. :0/

Shame about the weather Amy but you certainly made sure you had a good time :-) My sister lived in Richmond Yorkshire for a while, well Swallowdale, just down the road. Richmond is near to Cattrick Camp, I dont know if the army are still there.

Well you might not have had sunshine all the time but it hasn't affected your holiday, you've visited some smashing places Amy, the photo's are stunning, thankyou for sharing with us, pleased you were able to meet up with Pansy, Bloomer and their hubby's again, you didn't do too bad with the camera to take the shot of all of you, its nice to see you all together....

I think it's lovely that people who met on GOY can meet in person. And, yes, it must seem a little strange having seen pictures of someone's private garden on here so much then being in it.

What a lovely bridge that is....my wif Julie would like that, she has a thin g about bridges!

It is beautiful Scotkat shame about the rain but look at it this way if it was hot up there you would be crowded out by visitors and then it would spoil it for you , Have a lovely time in the Peak District its just as lovely, fingers crossed for no rain :o)
