Beautiful Amy! I love the first one 'Star of India'. I've often considered buying it, but for some reason never have. It has really sumptuous colours. :) I am watching the buds swelling on my clematis this year with great anticipation! :))

Angela I've checked my label pictures the outside petals look the same but the center / middle looks different I shall be able to tell when this opens up more .I could be wrong I save all my labels and can't find another one like it , Do you have your photo on here ... it does get confusing .. Karen the Clem is actually slightly darker than the photo shows it isn't showing the markings up as well as it should ..

I think Multi blue sometimes produces single flowers amy, but yellow anthers..in fact...is it actually the one underneath that you have labelled Shikoo?

Yes...i did think it would be a bit deeper than in the pic...but thats because of the hours I spend drooling over clematis books and websites! Lol!

Mmm...looked up Shikoo and see it is similar to multi blue but more purple in colour. They are both stunning!

I will have a look Amy, I am sure I did put a pic on a long time ago, that is supposing the label is correct for the plant....who knows?

It might be 'The President'?

All very beautiful Amy. I also have President and Niobe.

The one underneath is definitely Shikoo Karen I bought it specially it still has the label but I'm sure you are both right about me naming ' Multi Blue ' wrongly as I have another one in the garden and can see the difference ,I'm fairly sure it is as you say 'The President ' I've checked it with one I have , I took cuttings off several Clems the other year and this is one of them easy to muddle up when planting . Thanks for your help in making me pull my socks up to get it correct Lol ... Now how do I change the name !!

Paul they are not difficult but can be prone to Clematis wilt , when you buy a plant you must dig the hole twice as deep as the pot .... :o)

Gorgeous Amy, are they all in the ground? Do they do any good in pots? If so I could have some near the house.

I am now missing my Clematis in my old garden even more.I went past the garden today and there are all sorts flowering but, I was horrified to see the lawn still hadn't been cut and is about 2ft+ high!! Heartbreaking!
But, I have planted a Clematis(Daniel Daronda) in my new garden this week(just a baby that I will have to keep an eye on )So, hopefully, it's just a matter of time before I have some lovely blooms...hopefully next year!

Oh Paul that is heartbreaking I will never go back to look at my last garden I couldn't bare to see it if it hadn't been looked after , Good luck with your new garden and Clematis !

A lovely selection Amy, most of mine are still in bud so it won`t be long before they break free.

Thanks Stroller , You can't very well miss it then Paul I know how I felt when I went down the lane where we use to live to see my Almond tree had been cut down in the front garden ...!

Oh Paul it must be heart breaking for you ,I dread the thought of someone letting this garden go wild if we leave :o(

love all your Clematis Amy, I planted up a lot last year but they just don't seem to be doing very well at all. I'm not sure why? if you have any tips I would be grateful :-)

Teds the most important thing is to plant the Clematis at least 6" deeper than the pot you buy it in which means the soil will be a good way up the stem ... also they like their feet in the shade so always put a brick or something at the base of the plant ... good luck :o)) also Teds they do take a couple of years to really get going so try not to be too impatient !

15 Jun, 2015

Thanks Amy I don't think I planted them deep enough, OH well I will just have to try again. It's a good excuse to go to a nursery ;-)

Lovely selection there of Clematis Amy. I have a couple in the garden. I cut them back in the winter and put a sprinkle of compost around the base of the plants.
