Lovely Amy! I am really enjoying mine too. I brought some cuttings from my old garden, and most of them are flowering now. So beautiful, and the bees adore them too! :))

I seem to have lost all of mine this year :( but yours are just gorgeous Amy.

Penstemons are so elegant, they are like delicate little bells floating in the breeze; yours are magnificent, beautiful!

3 Jul, 2014

So beautiful! I love the one named 'Heavenly Blue' what an apt name.

Love the Blueberry Fudge, must look out for it. Penstemons are a bit iffy here on the west coast of Scotland, although I find any of them with smaller narrow leaves are fine. Have just taken cuttings of all of mine in case we have a hard winter

Thank you every one I'm pleased you like them , these are plants I've bought Carole I take cuttings from them before the winter as a precaution sometimes they don't survive if its very cold , I've also grown some from seeds ..Blueberry Fudge & Heavenly Blue are my favorites in this selection ... The narrow leaved ones do seem to be hardier Wendy , good luck with your cuttings !

Thanks Dawn it was my new shorter haircut ..it's a good idea to take Penstemon cuttings you can't risk losing all your plants in the winter ...

Lots of beautiful colours but Blueberry Fudge definitely does it for me! Don't think I have ever tried them - not sure why - are they unhappy in heavy clay soil? If so, that's probably why :)

I like that one to Gee , I don't believe they are particularly fussy about the type of soil they are grown in ,I can save you some seeds if you would like to try them !

I will Gill , they like well drained soil and thrive best in full sun , that's about it ,I've never found them to be very fussy .....

Lovely collection Amy; I have a few that are in full bloom now - I also loved the Poppy-blog; that rolling landscape looks very "North Norfolk" Sheringham or Kelling perhaps?

We used to grow a lot of penstemons a few years ago, but they were not happy where we had them and in the very wet winter lost most of them, think we only have about two now, they are such beautiful flowers....
