I’m finding it hard to catch up with GOY since my cousin and her husband have been visiting from New Zealand ,I promise to answer everyone waiting for a reply as soon as possible .
We enjoyed our time with them enormously sadly they have left to start their journey back home .I’ll come back to our time spent with them later .
Do you remember Nosypotters last blog ( Leigh ) where he stated he was gifting his beautiful Toadstools to me to be looked after and care for mainly because they were stolen from his property last year , well OH was able to collect them from Leigh’s house this week .
We decided the best place to position them was in the area of the fruit trees , it’s also near the old tree where I have my fairy house ( do you remember that ? )
Here they are looking good and a perfect place for the fairies to have a tea party .
Thank you Leigh ,I know what a wrench it was for you to part with them , I expect we will be seeing you soon .

And the Fairy house .

Oh, Amy. You're a girl after my own heart with your fairy house and now the wonderful toadstools. They look perfect in your garden and I'm sure you'll treasure them. Leigh is a very talented man and what a great picture of him on his toadstools!

28 May, 2014

Those are so cute! We've got a few fairy doors hidden around our garden but I'm going to start adding in little extra pieces to add a bit of surprise to all the little corners. *adds toadstools to 'the list'* :P

28 May, 2014

Its such a joy to see them again and in their lovely new home - you are a very lucky lady Amy and I'm sorely tempted to come and burgle you. I have a very small (life size) model of the same variety on my piano but really envy you those. Great picture of Leigh the gnome - looks really at home perched up there!

Leigh I knew you'd found them but not that you'd got them back - great stuff.

OOps, just noticed that Lincslass called you a lucky lady too - not copying, honest!

Under a toadstool crept a wee elf
Out of the rain to shelter himself.
Under the toadstool, fast asleep
Sat a big dormouse all in a heap!
Trembled the wee elf, frightened, and yet
Fearing to fly away lest he got wet!
To the next toadstool may be a mile..
Sudden the wee elf smiled a wee smile.
Tugged till the toadstool toppled in two,
Holding it over him gaily he flew.
Soon he was safe home, dry as could be!
Then woke the dormouse - "Good gracious me,
Where is my toadstool?" loud he lamented-
And that's how umbrellas first were invented!

Learned in my first class in the infants!

Ah thank you Chris my OH made those little chairs for our daughter's dolls house when she was small if you could see inside the fairy house you would see a little bed as well , that was over 40 years ago when you made things yourself .....

29 May, 2014

That's a lovely poem, made me smile....

29 May, 2014

Great poem, Stera. That would be considered far too challenging for first year infants to learn these days, I think. Not my own opinion; I think children usually rise to the challenge, if presented in the right way, and can do far more than some people give them credit for.

29 May, 2014

im only 23 what do you mean amy xx glad you like them .

29 May, 2014

They look great Amy ! I wish I had room for them !
I love the tree house too ! What a good idea ! Do you have fairies at the bottom of your garden then ! lol

29 May, 2014

Leigh/Amy, are the toadstools of Leigh's special concrete mix? Love them, want them in my woodland :-)

I agree Lincs / Tbear we had to learn by repeating stuff everyday you didn't have a choice and it stays with you for life as proved by Steragram .... really Leigh I didn't think you were a day over 21 :o)) we do have fairies Rose sometimes when it's very quiet at night I creep out and watch them dancing in the moonlight , it's a very special moment :o) Sorry Dawn they are all mine Ha Ha you can't have them , you will have to let Leigh answer that one about the mixture I believe the shape is made with a wire frame , is this going to be another job for your clever hubby John ? x

29 May, 2014

We didn't have to learn the poem, it just stayed with me, but silly little rhymes are the one thing I do remember.

If only I could put names to the people I meet, and remember where my glasses are and that I was supposed to be going out tomorrow, but where on earth am I supposed to go....and why can't I remember plant names I've known for years and years??? If only escallonia and eleagnus would fit into a rhyme ...those two in particular cause me endless trouble and they never used to.

Who am I again?

bless ya cotton socks amy . your not getting out of making my soup or my spade comes to think of it sweet talking me are you lol . as for dawn . its not special cement as such . what you do is get sharp sand and Portland cement and you can get a cement pigment of the internet . use a plactisiser too from b and q . mix the cement so if you roll it in a ball and gently toss it in the air it neither lands back on your hands and flattens or crumbles from being too short oops sorry dry I mean lol . bang some post of plastic or a metal that wont rust into the floor as tall as you want the toadstool . more if you want more but remember you have to fit the cap. rap chicken wire round the post and squish the cement mix into it . while this is going of poar some sharp sand out and dampen it and or use some stones in it for bulk . make this into a dome shape which will become the underside of the cap . now put about 2-3 inches of cement on top of the sand dome care fully and make it mushroom shape and the size you want . poke a wire down into the sand dome and threw the cement . this will cement into the pole in the middle of the upright bit when its gone off and finished .now mix up some more cement with the red or what ever colour toadstools you want . make this wetter than the original mix and brush an even amount over the intire serfice about half inch thick . sprinklke in white gravel . then gently put more dry sharp sand over the top and cover the cap completely . leave this for a couple of days . while that's hapning put another layer or 2 of cement and wire round the original upright till its reached the desired thickness . make sure the old set layer is wet as the next layer sticks to it better . brush of thje sand of the cap and you should have a nice mushroom cap . put a little cement down the middle of the upright. push the wire down the middle from the cap . sorted . ps when you've finished the upright brush it with a wet paint brush and paint it with white masonary paint . I hope you understand lol .

Steragram I'm with you all the way , I can never remember peoples names and have to check the calender in the morning I know darn well what that plant is called why can't I remember it ? my OH calls everybody John if he isn't able to remember their names that way they correct him . it's normal and fun lots of mistakes make us laugh, we compete with our best friends to see who has done the sillyest things our friend won this week he put his key in his shoe and then sat on the eggs he had collected from his hens Lol ....

Leigh you are much to clever for me I'm off to bed Night Night mind the bugs don't bite xx

29 May, 2014

lol I remember going to a petrol station on a nice freezing morning . I had a locking cap on my car with the lock actually being on the petrol cap as apposed to a leaver inside . I took out the fuel handle nicely dripping . kids and misses at the time in the car . without thinking as the lock was frozen pulling the lighter out of my pocket and holding it alight to the frozen lock . then I had that tom and jerry moment wear there heads turn into an asses and realised the explosive forces I probably would release and stopped . not before making my underwear somewhat heavier lol . bugs dare not bite my rhino hide amy sweet dreams xx .

30 May, 2014

Lol Amy, lucky you.
You are super Leigh, sharing your secrets, lol, thank you. You are so talented, the size and scale, proportions are spot on. Maybe John will try one day, he's clever but Leigh these are something else :-)

30 May, 2014

thanx dawn . why don't you try it on a smaller scale maybe . you havnt got much to lose and you could just leave them cement colour .

30 May, 2014

Lol Leigh, what a narrow escape you all had! It's comforting to know I'm not the only idiot. Thank you for your "simple" recipe for making toadstools. I think it would be easier to travel east and pay you a visit! Some people have all the talent...

Amy, reminds me of a tale my Grandma used to tell - she went into the bathroom to wash her hands, and before she realised what she was doing she'd got ready for bed...

I'm glad you all enjoyed my infants poem - it would be nice to think the teacher could know its still on the go but I don't suppose she's around any more...

30 May, 2014

Thanks Leigh, good idea x

Only you could thaw a frozen petrol cap with a lighter Lee you were lucky it could have ended very differently ! We all do silly things Steragram it's what makes us human, our son rang this evening I thought he said he was going to South Hampton I said why are you going there ,he laughed ,what he actually said was that he was going camping, well it does sound a bit like it !

I'm with Amy on this.
Stera, that's really funny about your Grandma.
Leigh, what a lucky escape - scary!
When I did my (first) driving test, I had parked my BSM white mini on the end of a row of cars. When I came out, with the examiner, we went to get into the car and as I'm standing there fiddling with the lock - no automatic fob thing in those days - a man comes over and says ' Excuse me, that's my car you're trying to get into!' In my state of total panic, I hadn't noticed that there were now 3 white minis in a row. Unfortunately, the examiner had undergone a sense of humour bypass and asked crushingly if I would 'kindly take me to your own vehicle, Miss Walsh?'. Needless to say, things went from bad to worse and I was actually in tears by the end of the test. I was only 17 and I didn't take my test again till I was 31; still had to have 2 goes before I cracked it!

brilliant Tuesday lol .
I remember taking my motorbike test as at the time they changed what you could ride on provisional from 250cc to 125cc . I had a ke175cc Kawasaki trail bike and didn't want a side car or a smaller bike or to do the written part . I worked rearing chickens at the time and being on a farm I was dirty smelly and so was my bike . I left to take it at about dinner time in my willies etc , I rased there as fast as the bike would go as I had to get back to work . on the test at the time the instructor walks around an estate in bury stedmunds popping out when you least expect it for emergency stop etc . he told me to do a figure 8 around 2 housing estates . I immediately went the wrong way . realised my mistake and turned round and did it the right way . I did this all properly but thaught I must of failed . I went threw the motions and got to the end and after a few questions he actualy passed me . I was so chuffed that I ran to my bike with such velocity that I ran into it . I jumped about holding my shin then started the bike . as I left I popped a wheely and noticed the bloke who just passed my test was still there shaking his head lol . on my car test I was late using my dads car bye 3 mins as theyed moved the test centre and they failed me for being late . I was gutted . the next time I actualy booked my first and last ever proper lessons of 2 hours . in the first part he asked me too do a three point turn and as I pulled up I clipped the curb so thaught it was all over and again relaxed . I actualy did the emergency stop then after that had to do a real one as someone stepped out in the road . at the end he was still unnervingly stoney faced and asked me the statutry questions . one of them was what do you do if you miss your turning on a motor way . I didn't know or forgot so decided a sense of humer mite help . I said to handbrake across the central reservation and drive back too it . still he didn't even flinch . I was sweating then but amazingly he passed m e lol .

31 May, 2014

There is a lot of comedy to be found in the driving test department! Enjoyed your tales, Leigh.

31 May, 2014

ofcourse there is that's what makes this such a great site . thanx Tuesday x.

31 May, 2014

Hahahahah Leigh, I can just picture the examiner's face as you popped the wheelie lol, brilliant stuff.

31 May, 2014

It was definitely a site . You realise i saved lives doing that . I bet it was a while before he let someone else pass lol xx

31 May, 2014

haha, you probably have done, lol.

Tbear I think you were very brave going back for another exam after all those years it takes some courage well done ... I was lucky we have a friend who has an old airfield with runways across his land I practiced on there, I also took my two children for practice sessions before they were allowed on the road by the time they were able to take lessons they knew how to handle the car there was even a loading slope to practice hill starts on ... BTW I once reversed out of our garage with the car door open ripping the door off :o(
Leigh will you please let me know when you are going to be out and about in Norfolk so that I can keep off the road and out of your way ! LOL... sorry about us not being here yesterday it was our daughters 18th wedding anniversary ...
