After all the awful weather we have had for far to long we decided to down tools put on our boots and go for a walk yesterday afternoon with the sun shining we set off ..

I though you might like to see some of the sights on the way .I’m glad we had those boots on …..

some Fungi on a fallen tree looking like sea shells

This was this best part ever , we saw a Fox sunbathing we stood as still as we could he was only a few feet away he must have got wind of us ,he got up slowly and wandered over to the stream ,looking back at us , he looked to be very old you can see how grey his fur is ..

Past the deer

Back to the river where the Highland cattle paddling they obviously thought we were having a heat wave

The Bull gave us a funny look ,we stayed the right side of the fence ..

We have almost finished one more field to cross …

That’s it ! then home for tea and cakes ,It’s given me a huge appetite …..

What a lovely walk, thanks Amy! Love the fox and those highland cattle, the lambs, the deer - well all of it really except for worrying about the adders!
Tea and cakes at the end - perfect!

It was perfect Sticki , a couple of the fox photos are blurred I was almost to scared to move or breath I didn't want to frighten it .. I don't like the Adders I wouldn't dare walk through here in sandles :o(

Hi Amy that was some walk, so rewarding to see all the different animals, Mr Fox does look rather an old gent! so pleased you took all the pictures to show us, its a little like A walk On The Wildside With Amy! ;0))

Really enjoyed that Amy, so many interesting sights to see, especially the elderly fox enjoying some warming sun. We moan so much about the cold weather and yet don't often think about wildlife and how they are coping with this very cold spring. Gorgeous photos!

Thank you everyone I'm glad you enjoyed the walk with me ,it was a real pleasure to feel the sun on our faces and to see so many interesting animals on the way that doesn't include the Adders ,I suppose somebody must love them Just not me ! Our last dog came face to face with one once it scared the life out of me :o(

Thank you Linda / Lulu I'm pleased you enjoyed it ,I'm glad we didn't meet any Adders I don't think of them as animals either it's not warm enough for them yet , Ooh Lulu was your folks doggy very ill poor thing ! there was one in a pub sandpit last year the publican grabbed it before the children dived in and was bitten he was very ill we saw him with his arm still in bandages ages afterwards :o(

Thanks Skips it's nice to see you again :o)
Louisa I have a video of a friend trying escape under a barbed wire fence after we realised there was a Bull in the field I was over the ditch on the safe side filming her , it's hilarious !
I'm glad the doggie survived Lulu ,it must have been a shock to it's system , I wasn't aware as to how well the Adders swam until on another very wet woodland walk we saw dozens of the things swimming in the water filled dykes , Yuk .....

Eeeek Amy I would run away very fast!

8 Apr, 2013

I've never seen an adder. I thought they were quite rare, but sounds like they are quite common in some parts.

I did run Sticki in the opposite direction I don't 'do' that wet wood walk anymore ! they are here Karen even in the sand on beaches in some areas ,perhaps the winters are to cold for them up north ........

is the same true for suffolk too Amy?

Don't let it put you off Sticki , normally you would never see one , it's only idiots like us that go where they are likely to be , we would love to have you back on your old home ground :o))

9 Apr, 2013

No, I believe they do live in the heather up here.

9 Apr, 2013

they are in scotland too?

thats very kind of you amy, hertfordshire and bedfordshire are really home to me but i cant afford those!!!

9 Apr, 2013

yes Sticki, you might have to adjust your future home aspirations! Lol

We'll let you slum it with us poor old country bumpkins Sticki LOL x

9 Apr, 2013

oh no! i know ireland is safe from snakes but neither of my sons are there!

slum it amy??? suffolk always looks wealthy and lovely to me ~ i expect norfolk is the same?

9 Apr, 2013

I enjoyed the walk with you, Amy. Aren't those fungi wonderful? I have never seen any quite like those before. Love those Highland cattle ... I always think they look soft and fluffy but am really not brave enough to stroke one!

Parts of Norfolk Sticki ,Burnham Market has the nick name Little Chelsea there are so many film star types who come down from London the problem is that they buy up second homes so that locals can't afford them Blakeny is another one ,there's always rows about it because they are empty a lot of the time ...

Thanks Shirley I thought the Fungi looked unusual , I love the Highland cattle and always think they look out of place on our flatland ........

9 Apr, 2013

my mum had a holiday in burnham market, she liked it!! she is the one who came from norfolk ~ near kings lynn

9 Apr, 2013

Wow, is this near where you live Amy? fantastic walk, I even like adders and I don't think their venom is usually fatal. I have heard of people recovering without the antidote and they are not aggressive, much more afraid of you, but you're wise not to wear sandals:-) I thought that fox looked a bit thin, must have been a stinker of a winter for all wild life. Most of the snow has gone from here now and today there was frog spawn in my pond ...SPRING yay!!!:-)))

9 Apr, 2013

still some snow here on the higher parts of the hill,

A lovely country walk, we have to travel a few miles to see the best parts of Hampshire, does you good to get away from the house and garden for a few hours, I do like the cattle, I have a fondness for Highland cattle....

Thats why I thought you would be coming home because of your mum Sticki ,I read in the local news yesterday that the owner of Hoste Arms the celebrities watering hole in B.Market he is buying up all the houses he can for sale ,it isn't fair ! each year they have a village fete a lovely old fashioned one with Punch and Judy the kids love it .
Yes it's quite local Bg.. I believe the Adders are more afraid of you but I'm not taking any chances ,I'm keeping my boots on , brilliant Frog spawn , you will soon have the patter of tiny feet :o) I found two birds nests in the garden today a blackbird was sitting on one ...
We love a good walk Angela it does you good , The highland cattle are magnificent at the same time they look gentle .....

10 Apr, 2013

wow that was a brilliant walk amy . ill be comming to see you sooner rather than later .take cre bye for now xx .

12 Apr, 2013

Great walk , Amy . It's such a prevelige to see the wild life , isn't it ?
We managed a walk on Wednesday , around Thorpness and to the sea . The wind has been so unforgiving , but it eased that day . Not much in the way of wild-life spotted , but so good to be out .
Stiki , I've told you that Sufflok awaits !
Ba , frogspawn already , our frogs have just emerged , so a while to wait yet .

12 Apr, 2013

I loved seeing your walk especially as you were lucky enough to capture the wild life. Bet it gave you a much needed lift after all this miserable weather we are having.

I'm glad you enjoyed it Stroller / Dogsbod I'm planning on going back again at about the same time of the day to see if the Foxy is creature of habit I'd love to see him again !!

16 Apr, 2013

Hi , Amy , glad that you have had a few enjoyable days away .

Was it Julia ? you didn't fancy buying it then ? I don't think I could cope with going up all those stairs , I believe I read somewhere that it was being used as a holiday home these days ,I'm not certain of that ! .

17 Apr, 2013

Yes it is , Amy . Certainly couldn't manage the stairs , I hope that they have a lift .
