Boys Toys

By amy

When my hubby was a little boy he had a Hornby train set which he loved .

At eight years old his parents parted , he was sent to boarding school, alas that was the last he saw of his beloved train set .

After all these years he would still stop and stare at them in the shop windows .

At the weekend we went into a local toy shop to buy a birthday present for our youngest grandson , where was hubby , gazing at a Hornby train , I decided there and then to buy it for him for Christmas ,

I can,t tell you how excited he is , he wanted to carry it home , it took me all my strength to wrestle it away from him , he is already planning to clear the needed space ,

I told my daughter about this , she in turn has told the grandchidren who are already ringing him up to say " we know what you are getting for Christmas , can we come to play with you "

I can see that it is going to keep a lot of big and little children happy .

Well Amy, they'll be outof your way, lol. You can do whatever you like as they won't even know the time.
I love trains too. My cousin had a lovely electric set and whenever I came to his place, we'd be on the floor playing. I had to be very careful he said, don't sit on the track. It went all through the flat of his parents, lol. Hywell, those Dinky's are worth a fortune now you know!

~ we have Sir Nigel Gresley as well as Mallard and Rocket belonging to my son at the bottom of my husbands wardrobe with loads of track`~not seen the light of day for years!~My husband still has two tin wind up cars~one blue one green about 12-15 inches long in the style of old rolls royce and bentleys~ no wonder my son is such a nut for cars!~

You will have to get it all out one day Arlene , it might excite them again . What a lovely collection .

The wind up cars sound fabulous , I bought two tin shaped Lorries with a handle at the front to wind them up to play a tune for the grandsons with biscuits inside them for xmas , I have since decided that they are to nice for them to play with so I am keeping them ...LOL

He loved it Arlene , he had a few more pieces for xmas he has still to make the table to put it all on , he had an operation before xmas which has set him back a bit , he didn,t get the room ready in time , he has been buying train posters to put up on the walls .
We didn,t see the Top gear programme he normally would watch it , it been a bit manic here with him recovering and having son and family here as well for xmas .
Thanks for asking , A Happy new year to you x

~I hope he is on the mend and all the best for 2009! We used to have a big layout but it took up such a lot of room~if you can go round the edges as well to give extra lehgth it could be great!
