My prize money spend

You may remember that I was lucky enough to win £ 50.. in a garden design competition …

I had been looking out for a trough to compliment the ones my son bought me last year , I finally found one in a reclamation centre .

I managed to get the price down a little so was able to put some more money to it to buy two well weathered plant pots .

In these I have planted Lawson cypress ’Elwood Gold ’ which I have placed at each side of some steps

Yesterday I bought a tray of plants to start me off with the planting of the trough ,they include …

Brachycome ’ Blue Mist ’
Nemesia aromatic scarlet
Bacopa ’ Great pink beauty ’

I hope you approve my choice and think the money was well spent ………

Splendid idea! Those pots and the trough are going to be great additions. The Cypress looks quite at home already.

I certainly do approve Amy! Lovely idea to find "well-worn" pots, and I like the plants too, especially the Nemesia. :))

Love your choices Amy. I think you did very well with your prize money. It will give you something to remember for many years to come, which is really good. Can we see another picture when all those lovely plants are in flower?

Great buy there...lots of enjoyment for you...

Lovely choice there. I much prefer old used planters rather than brand new ones.

I dont think you could have chosen better Amy, the pots and trough compliment your brick pavers brilliantly, and your gravel garden with the grasses is coming on a treat.

Love the Trough Amy and your choice of plants, I have been to the GC today I was looking for some Bacopa seeds as the flowers were lovely last year in my hanging baskets and fancied growing my own, but I couldnt find any seeds or plants, will try again in a couple of weeks!

Amy, money in pocket have no value, but pots, trees and flowers in the garden do :)
Amy, my God, how old is that first large pot. I am fascinated by carved symbols. Is it bee on the right? Exactly the same lily with cross is carved in a basic stone of our Roman church in the village I live.

Thank you so much for the compliments and approval of my new / old pots I'm pleased that you like them , I know what you mean about that 'right' look Pam I wil post a pic when the flowers have grown and have filled the trough Poppy , I shall look forward to seeing your trough San you have a nice friend to give you one like that ! Carole these plants were in those tiny mini pots ,I brought them home and repotted them to let them grow on little bigger also I'm keeping them in the greenhouse as we are still having night frosts , I like old pots Sheilar they look as if they have always been in the garden ...
Kat when you buy from a reclaim centre here all the items are old and have been rescued from old properties it could have come from an old hall or an old house that had to be demolished they often can't or won't tell you where an item has come from , I thought the carved symbols were roses but I will have a much better look tomorrow in the daylight , it would be strange if it matched your village church stone ... :o)

Thank you Grandmage / Dd / Slad /Sheila /San I'm so pleased that you do all like it :o) I found some more Bacopa in 'plugs ' today , I'm collecting a few at a time so that I will have enough to go round when I start planting my pots and troughs ...
Kat we looked carefully at the symbols on the trough this morning and it does look like a Bee , my OH says it's a lobster LOL .. I think we will agree that it can't be lobster on a flower planter !
