We have been away for 3 weeks but on seeing the overgrown garden when we arrived back Sunday evening you would have thought it was 3 months !
I can’t believe it’s over grown so much in that time it’s going to take ages to get it back into some kind of order ..

We have had a fabulous holiday ,the weather was perfect ( very hot )

Each area of the Dordogne has its own characteristics and nowhere is this more clear than in the towns and villages scattered through the countryside of the Dordogne region.
there was so much to see and never enough time ,Chateaus / Grottos , I didn’t want to come home ..

Dordogne is a Walnut growing area so as you can imagine there were fields of Walnuts everywhere with irrigation pipes between the rows , we went to a Walnut museum where they produce the oil it takes 5 Kilos of nuts for one litre of oil …

I’ve taken loads of photos but haven’t had time to sort them out so have put on a few that reminded me of enjoyable lovely days ..

Maybe giants live here ?

Tobacco drying

The gardens of Marqueyssac interesting but I was longing to see some other pretty colours after half an hour !

Pomegranates growing on the side of the road

Rocamador

I hope you have enjoyed seeing a little glimpse of our holiday

Lovely to see your photo`s Amy, amused me to see the bicycle, all you need is a man in a beret, that last photo is a great shot. Pleased you have enjoyed your trip and looking forward to seeing more...
It comes as a shock to see the garden when coming home, I can imagine how much its grown in three weeks...

BRILLIANT PICTURES. BEAUTIFUL PART OF THE WORLD.
I LIKE THE ONE WITH THE POMEGRANATES MOST AS I EAT MANY OF THEM BUT I WOULD NOT SAY THE SAME FOR THE TOBACCO. I AM IN MY 60's AND NEVER TRIED A SINGLE CIGARETTE OR ANYTHING SIMILAR.
THIS IS OF COURSE ONLY MY PERSONAL VIEW.

Thank you all so much it's nice to hear from such nice friendly people again :o)
We didn't go as far as St. Emilion Skips but will deff. remember it if we are that way in the future it sounds lovely , Costas you will be pleased to hear because of the link with illness the state is doing nothing to save the French tobacco industry and are cutting down on it's production of Tobacco at it's Sarlot plant

Angela I'm pleased that you have had a good holiday as well , I actually did wonder where you were when we were out there , don't you find it so much more relaxing over there ? nothing is to much trouble for them also its so clean and tidy ..I love it and I can tell you do too ...

Rocamador is wonderful Annella , I have to admit my heart did a little somersault when I saw all those steps but it wasn't as bad as it looked plus a good meal at the top made it worthwhile :o))

A good meal makes everything worthwhile !! and as you say everything is so relaxing, although this year we rode bikes, it had been 50 years since OH had been on one lol played tennis and table tennis, and OH dived off the rocks in to the sea, in spite of elder daughter and me telling him not to do it, he would kill himself lol he lived to tell the tale......but been warned not to attempt it again.

Oh Angela Lol .... it's amazing what you can do and how much fitter you feel when the sun is shining the problem is keeping it up at home when it's cold and frosty outside ;o( I'm looking forward to seeing your pics , which area were you in ?
Thanks Nana , There's so much to catch up at home I'm not sure when I'll be putting more on ! :o)

Wow, looks like you had a great holiday Amy, some wonderful photos there, I'm not sure if that topiary garden was on Gardener's World a few weeks ago, imagine trimming all that! Fave pic is the last one, those gorgeous chateaux and that surely must be water marks down the rock??? Just imagine if it rains hard!

What a lovely area of France. I love all the quaint little villages. It all seems so old fashioned and not hurried, the best way to feel when on holiday. I loved the great big fork and spade in the first photo, did you see any giants? If that is the garden that was featured on GW a couple of weeks ago and it certainly looks like it. The guy who owns it says all that topiary is trimmed by hand! I wouldnt fancy that job!

Fantastic blog! Lovely to see other parts of the world. Rocamodor looks spectacular!!!

I'm afraid I didn't see any giants Poppy ,we didn't hang about to find them LOL... I wish I had seen that GW programme Janey said she thought it was the same garden as well ,it is all trimmed by hand it's not just a small area either the garden is several acres altogether ..

Thanks Lil Rocamodor is amazing , one of my favourite moments was when we saw 2 red squirrels running along a wall we don't see them here only grey ones ... :o))

Thanks for telling me about it Janey , ( Marqueyssac ) We have been watching the whole programme on 'you tube' and wishing we were back there on holiday ( big sigh ) I have a photo of that Peacock and the Hot Air -balloons , it was so nice to see it all again , there was a waterfall at the far end which had practically dried up presumably because of the hot dry summer also markers round the cliffs showing the sea levels eons ago you wouldn't think that cliffs could be surrounded by the sea would you in the centre of France , thanks again x

I really enjoyed seeing this part of France through your photos, Amy ... pleased you had a lovely holiday ... now it's back to sorting out your garden! ... :o)))

23 Sep, 2011

Hi Amy, great blog, loved the photos especially the giants garden tools. When I saw them I thought, 'blimey, and I thought my garden fork was a big one'. Still, I don't have to use it now that I have a brawny (divorced) son at home. Sounds like a lovely area of France. Glad you enjoyed your holiday...

Thank you Barbara I can't quite make myself buckle down to the hard work in the garden yet I've just been clearing away and dead heading to at least make it look better , the flowers are lasting well there's still masses of colour ! collecting seeds before they fall has been the number one job :o)

25 Sep, 2011

Too true - that's what I've been doing, as well. You'll soon catch up. :-)
