Guns and roses

today the two have gone together side by side , Not far from us ( as the crow flies ) is the Stanford battle training area ,
The sound of the guns and bombs in deep contrast to the peace and solitude in our garden ,
The young men are on an intensive training schedule getting ready to go to Afganistan ,
Next week all will be quiet , they will have gone to do their duty , I will be thinking of them as I tend the roses .
I wonder how many of those young men will not come back .

It must be anxious times for their families. I don't know how they cope. We're lucky to be able to stay in our gardens. We should make the most of them. I suppose we do .

Poor families left worrying. I wish it was all over and they could all come home.
