I don't believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went to the allotment today, full of good intentions. Borrowed a pair of hefty clippers to break through the lock on the shed; intended to lay weed supressing membrane on the bed I dug over last week, and to cut back weeds and lay membrane on a few other beds.

When we arrived….there was a car already parked beside our gate…..and……..people working on our garden………shock horror!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and 2 children and a dog running all over my freshly turned over soil….grrrrrrr…….

It was the previous tenant….she claimed she had not received her eviction letter although she had received the one complaining she had not been cultivating the plot.

We both went to the Allotment Shed where a committee member was collecting rents. She was full of bluff and bluster…..Oh I have been working on it….I’ve been ill and I’ve been away etc…..etc…..this was really nothing to do with us so we just left and went to see the Secretary…who just so happens to live a few doors away from us. He showed me a copy of the letter sent in November; and took a copy to take to the lady…..assuming she was still on the allotment. He is going to write
to her again, and post it through her letterbox this time.

She is going to be given 2 weeks to remove her belongings from the shed (hope she leaves us the keys!) and I have been assured that it is still mine……phew!!!!!

Oh no....what a thing to happen. How frustrating. I hope it all gets cleared up quickly AA.

Oh Alice, what a shocking thing to happen, just what you don't want.

She's just trying it on, wait the 2 weeks and then get stuck in ..... she's clearly not a gardener if she's happy to let her dog run around the area .... we all love our dogs but preferably not on the food growing areas !

23 Jan, 2010

OMG Alice...
what a shock !
I hope you get your rightful allotment soon,
and then, please make a blog about weed suppressing membranes etc. with photos of how you did this...
I would be interested to see that. Thanks. :o)

What a disapoitment that would have been seeing all them on your allotment, i would have been pig sick, hope all gets sorted out soon.

23 Jan, 2010

The cheek of her, i would have been fumming.stick with it and get it sorted.

23 Jan, 2010

oh alice, i also would have gone mad, good job you went when they were there and can get it sorted now rather in a few weeks time,at least you know it IS your plot.....

23 Jan, 2010

strange she only turned up after you had started doing work on it. Surely she must have realised that she had lost it due to her inaction. hope it is all sorted in your favour.

the allotment i gave up last year is behind my mothers house, my Dad used to have a plot there and fitted a small gate in his fence to save his old legs a walk up to the entrance. Could not believe my eyes when new neighbours to mum were trotting through her garden to get to their recently acquired allotment ! upon asking why they were doing so, the lady said she assumed it was a right of way due to the gate ! No, they were just being very cheeky and lazy. oh yes, we had 3 complete Brussels sprout plants stolen over the Christmas period one year ! Goodwill to all men . . . . .

23 Jan, 2010

Now that is sheer cheek! She's trying it on to save face. I do hope you don't have to wait too long for the right response - in writing!

23 Jan, 2010

Wow, Megan....
Those were very naughty new neighbours !
I hope they stopped using the gate...
and..maybe the Brussels Sprouts gave the thieves indigestion. Lol.

23 Jan, 2010

What a shock for you hope they sort it out properly this time?

23 Jan, 2010

You sound just like Victor Meldrew ! Seriously..glad you have secured the plot !

23 Jan, 2010

Thank you all for your encouraging comments....I've felt very washed out since thismorning. Hopefully the Secretary caught up with this person to give them a copy of the letter they said they didn't get...and to give her 2 weeks to shift her belongings. Brian is not wanting us to do any work on the garden until she has moved her stuff, even though the Secretary said we were within our rights to do so.
I will ask him tomorrow if he did see her; and what response he got. With any luck she will have moved her stuff today, as she had her car with here.....Will keep you informed.
Yes TT...I will post some pics as and when the membrane goes down.

That's dreadful Alice......hope all's sorted out for you, by I bet your heart was going ten to the dozen......I feel really indignant reading about it...good look with
it all....:o)

23 Jan, 2010

Sorry to read about this unpleasantness, Alice, after getting this wonderful early Christmas pressy. Hope that all goes weel from now on. :-))

23 Jan, 2010

Oh Alice I`m sorry to read this, it does sound as though the old tenant was trying to bluff her way back in, I think Brian is right about not doing anything until it has been sorted out, hopefully that will be very soon....

23 Jan, 2010

Your heart must have been in it's boots for a while there. Thank goodness there was a 'committee member' there to reassure you and it should be sorted out soon.

24 Jan, 2010

Alice... I hope you're feeling more positive now...
..maybe you'll feel better to know you feature as one of the pretty princesses in my latest blog. Lol. :o)
Looking forward to your weed membrane pics/blog. Thanks. :o)

Oh dear.... hope it all gets sorted soon ..

Just thought I'd update you on whats happening......The Secretary went to see the old tenant of MY lottie....to give her a copy of the letter she didn't get (huh!)...she was still digging when he went down (my thanks to her for that...lol) she is still insisting she is keeping the plot.
She will get a letter(by registered post) telling her that she has 2 weeks to remove her possessions. It is possible one of the committee members will go and remove them if she doesn't and tell her to collect them from the hut. In the meantime we will not do anything until the 2 weeks is up.
Apparently she had been evicted a couple of years ago and the then committee, had relented and let her keep it....she obviously thinks she can wear them down again..NOT THIS TIME.................

24 Jan, 2010

Good idea sending a letter by registered post, that way she won`t be able to deny getting it, you keep your spirits up Alice and keep planning for when it is yours.......

24 Jan, 2010

Photographic evidence is always useful...her belongings etc....what the allotment site looks like at the moment... just in case there is a dispute as to what she left there etc...

24 Jan, 2010

Hmmmm....thats a thought TT... I already have some pics posted on a previous blog....that shows the state of the allotment when I took it over....

24 Jan, 2010

There may not have been a waiting list last time she was served with eviction, but it's different this time. Hang on in there Lou, 2 weeks will soon pass. :-)

26 Jan, 2010

Oh I feel for you I, hate unpleasantness of any kind .
I agree hang in there.

26 Jan, 2010

So sorry to hear about the allotment, lou. How sad to have all your enthusiasm dampened like that.Hang on in there, you are in the right, and she is wrong.
Keep smiling :o)))

26 Jan, 2010

Thank you all.....I went down today to lay some membrane (sorry TT forgot my camera....next time!) I decided to go on as normal as when she comes back at the weekend, she will see that I am working and not put off about her protestations that she is staying.....I noted that she had fixed the shed roof and raked over some more beds on Sunday....of course the weed roots are there to divide and divide....grrrr

:o)).....:o)).......:o))).......this is me smiling.........lol

;o)))

26 Jan, 2010

:o))) from me too.Doesn't it make you feel better though,to vent your feelings
with words..sort of helps you get it off your chest, and not bottling it up inside.
Does your blood pressure good too,Lou..another smile, just for you,:o)))

27 Jan, 2010

I have seen this happen before, very clever lol sorry but you have to give her credit, for being so cunning, yes I agree about the waiting list, what Muddywalters said, you will find that some one on the allotment has told her, you have taken over and doing well with the digging, so it saves her digging it, as you have done it for her, this is what I ve seen happen before.

Glad you kept photo's of before pictures. So now by raking not digging the weed roots out, shows she is a con merchant, to make it look as though she has put hard work into it from a distance, also will make it harder for you to dig, if you win. Its sad when these type are allowed to have such a valuable plot, when genuine people who do work hard and really are sincere have to wait. Good luck with your new plot hope you don't get any more hassel. Keep smileing
