HARROGATE AUTUMN FLOWER SHOW

Had my annual sojourn to Harrogate yesterday. The weather was beautiful and it was special because I met up with some members of another forum who I hae “known” for a couple of years. One of these friends is my “dahlia mentor” and he did win a couple of “cards” this year…..
I’m very sorry….but…..I forgot my camera….but to make up for it I list below the plants I bought.:))

Aster novae angliae “Purple Dome”

This aster has lovely deep purple, double flowers. Mildew resistent, and is not so tall as others of this species.

Boykinia occidentalis

I don’t know this plant at all…..it just took my fancy…know what I mean?
I haven’t even googled it yet!!!

Dianella revoluta “Little Rev”

A bargain at £1.50 !!!

Hardy Fuschia “Lady Bacon”…..

This one has unusual flowers and it was an “order” for a forum friend…so I got one for myself as well!!

Hydrangea petiolareis.

Had one when we lived in Harrogate and have been meaning to get one for this house….so I did!!

Libertia ixiodes “Goldfinger”

A gorgeous yellow/gold colour to give all year round interest.

Monarda didyma “Fireball”

Saxifraga “Blackberry & Apple Pie”

Got this for the leaf shape and colour….a lovely red underneath..

Scirpus cernuus

A perennial grass….a lovely green with little “bottlebrushes” on the ends of the stems…

Thalictrum kiusianum

A tiny, tiny variety…with gorgeous autumn colours…..will put this in one of my alpine pots.

Fuchsia 'Lady Bacon' is an old Victorian variety but tough. I bought mine last year and it's done really well in a cool, shady corner

I've grown the Dianella tasmania in Florida, both the white stripe (full sun) and yellow stripe (part shade), and love them. May be subject to rust and cottony cushion scale. Mine froze moving a clump to OR, sob. Trying the Libertia myself: glowing stiff foliage. And I like the little bulrush, Fiber Optic Grass. Good choices all!
