DEAR DOGS AND CATS.....

Having caused a bit of fun about giving a cat a pill….when I got this sent to me today – I figured you would get a bit of a laugh with this too….

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE PETS, THIS IS A TRUE STORY. FOR THOSE THAT DON’T, IT IS STILL A TRUE STORY…..LOL

The following was found posted very low on a refrigerator door:

Dear Dogs and Cats: The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn’t help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort, however.. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years – canine/feline attendance is not required.

The proper order for kissing is: Kiss me first, then go smell the other dog or cat’s butt. I cannot stress this enough.

Finally, in fairness, dear pets, I have posted the following message on the front door:

TO ALL NON-PET OWNERS WHO VISIT AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR PETS:
(1) They live here. You don’t.
(2) If you don’t want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. That’s why they call it ‘fur’-niture.
(3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
(4) To you, they are animals. To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don’t speak clearly.
Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:
(1) eat less,
(2) don’t ask for money all the time,
(3) are easier to train,
(4) normally come when called,
(5) never ask to drive the car,
(6) don’t smoke or drink,
(7) don’t want to wear your clothes,
(8) don’t have to buy the latest fashions,
(9) don’t need a gazillion dollars for college and
(10) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children …

This pair had obviously not read the above Memo…..

Typical male….making himself comfortable….

THE ULTIMATE MCP ??

Thanks Simbad...I always felt SO sorry for poor wee Sophie....patiently waiting for Big Brother to let her back up on the couch. She always gave in to him...LOL
My current labs don't get on the furniture....and like your one....I get brought a toy at every turn. One of them in particular - always brings me my shoes or slippers at 6am prompt....a hint presumably!

I never had any of my lads done and it was amazingly never a problem - even with their sisters around the place...initially!! Then when they did get the hang of it (LOL) I got the girls spayed....saved me worrying about pyometra later in their lives.

10 Nov, 2009

Lmao !! It'd probably be Oz for me ! Strange how animals often 'outlast' humans innit ? Mmmm ... ;~))

10 Nov, 2009

Yup!! I loved Oz when I was there but my baby brother is in California & I'd love to be near him!

10 Nov, 2009

10 Nov, 2009

Have immediately copied and sent this to friends to lighten their day too,
great fun.

10 Nov, 2009

Glad that my piece of nonsense has caused such amusement, folks!
We can all use a bit of light entertainment once in a while...I seem to be developing a reputation for this sort of thing.....I must try and rectify that!!!
Watch this space......LOL

10 Nov, 2009

I have to say that every time I look at that pic of dear old Scout lying upside down on that couch with poor wee Sophie waiting "round the corner" to get back up...I too laugh like a drain. It was a regular occurrence ...him pushing her off like that.... and like a lamb - she would oblige!!!

10 Nov, 2009

Bless her xx

10 Nov, 2009

Brilliant LMSO

10 Nov, 2009

Our poor old lab gets a bit bullied by the cat,not usually maliciously, hides behind door and jumps out on him things like that, just to make him jump,he's a bit of a wimp, but one night he was laid by the fire in the best spot, cat walked in looked at him walked over and bit him on his b***s poor dog lept in the air, and the cat laid in his place, husband called fudge (lab) over and let him come on sette for a cuddle, not usually allowed, next night the cat walked in and fudge jumped on the settee, poor lad, can't do it now though as fudge had to be neutered this year, for medical reasons.

10 Nov, 2009

Oh Simbad ......... !!!!! LITERALLY LMAO !!

10 Nov, 2009

OMG....poor old Fudge....what a shame - I can just picture the scene..LOL
I hope the "medical reasons" weren't as a result of the cat bite!!!!

10 Nov, 2009

STOP Alz !!!!

10 Nov, 2009

10 Nov, 2009

;~))))

10 Nov, 2009

PM, Sue!

11 Nov, 2009

You lot are hilarious :-))))))))))))))))) Still makes me laugh thinking about it though.
No Alz neutering wasn't due to cat bite, he doesn't have to worry about being bit on them now though, poor dog can relax, lol, think symba was jealous as it was around the time he was neutered.

11 Nov, 2009

Poor "boys" !!!!
Amazing how such a seemingly docile animal like a domestic cat can suss out how to make its presence felt though...OUCH!!! I think I will stick to labradors thanks!!!

11 Nov, 2009

Hilarious blog Alz.LMSO though when I did I got pounced on as usual by 4 great hairy mutts :~)))))))))) Pretty difficult to stay in one place when those 4 all pounce on you when you're sitting on a chair with wheels :~))
Hysterical Simbad, you've got one b***** vindictive cat LoL :~))))

11 Nov, 2009

I can just picture the scene, Pipsqueak!!! I once saw a similar set up with a friend whose French windows were open onto the terrace....he was sitting at his desk chatting on the phone and started laughing at something....next thing I saw - he was disappearing at a rate of knots out the french windows being propelled by his two Alsatians!!!

11 Nov, 2009

LOL Alz !! :~)))
Love making you laugh Pip, because I know they pounce every time .... and that makes ME laugh !!! Tee hee hee !! ;~))

11 Nov, 2009

That made me laugh Sue! Lol ;~))

11 Nov, 2009

I think it's nice of them to take her for a walk (or a roll) for a change Ian !! lol ;~))

11 Nov, 2009

Laughing again!
Duke used to just look round with his head on one side, as if he was thinking "Whats tickled the idiot this time"!

11 Nov, 2009

LMAO !!! ;~))

11 Nov, 2009

Apropos french windows and dogs....we had friends who had a Staffie. This Staffie would attack anything that moved. One day, lying on the carpet, in front of the telly and the french windows, he saw a cat strolling across the back lawn. Fair game. He stood up, made a determined dash for the cat, THROUGH the french windows ( which were closed ), pulling the telly, by it's cable, with him...crash, tinkle.

Later the same week, having bitten off his owner's wing-mirror, he bit the back of a bus.

Helluva character. Gotta love 'em!

11 Nov, 2009

The back of a Bus ???????? LOL

11 Nov, 2009

Reminds me of my dear old friend - now 92 - who always had dachshunds...one of them was a young destructive sod....as she soon found out when she left him for half an hour in her car. When she came out he had chewed off her gear stick, the indicators and most of the plastic fascia and knobs. As it was a new car - and she was not really familiar with all the knobs and whistles.....she was totally unable to drive it home and had to call the AA....she never did tell me how she explained why she had called them...LOL I suppose it was a case of "You can always blame the dog" !!

11 Nov, 2009

Oh ..... I LOVE your blogs Alz !! Lol ;~)))))

11 Nov, 2009

Thank you, Kind Lady!!!!!

11 Nov, 2009

Thanks for this Alz ..hilarious and the comments that have followed been brilliant . Those list of rules so funny brings back so many memories we had a dog that would hump anything that moved and have a damn good go at things that wouldnt .. for years I walked with a limp .. a cat that could open and shut the fridge spent years blaming one another for leaving half eaten stuff in it ...

Some lovely stories here inspired by you , thank you .

11 Nov, 2009

;-))))))

Yep, Sue, the back of a bus. D'you remember ( oh yes you DO! ) when buses had an open back deck/platform and a central pole, for latecomers to run-and-grab? The deck is the bit that the Staffie attacked...just clamped his teeth onto, and hung on, little legs racing, as the bus pulled away from the stop!

Another friend ( okay, so I've had some weird friends in my time! ) kept ( and loved ) ex racing greyhounds, and one of them chewed the seal off the fridge door and ate the entire contents. From then on, her fridge had a rope round it, as the door wouldn't close properly.

;-)

11 Nov, 2009

OMG BB....I am sitting here helpless at the picture of you walking with a limp:>>))))
We had a wee Scottie dog (female) and a Wire Haired Terrier (male) at one point when I was a wee kid. The terrier would - like you say - hump anything or anybody and when the Scottie came into heat she got locked in her kennel. Somehow the terrier made it....my mother used to say it happened through doors. LOL
Anyway - one day I put a pair of my doll's green silk knickers on the terrier - thinking - as a kid would - that it would solve the problem...well I was only about 6 at the time LOL The trouble was - HE RAN AWAY ! A few hours later my mother got a phone call from the local police office from an incoherent Sergeant asking if she had lost her dog.....I'll be that lad was being dared by his colleagues to ask if she had lost her knickers!!!!!!

11 Nov, 2009

OMG !!!! You've started me off again !!! I'm imagining BB with a permanent appendage on his leg and the Staffie's legs going 19 to the dozen !!!! Up the stairs we go ...... !!! ;~))))

11 Nov, 2009

Now Alz's knickers as well !!!!!!! LMAO

11 Nov, 2009

Green silk knickers, Sue?
;-))))
xxx

11 Nov, 2009

NO..dear Sue.....my doll's!!!

11 Nov, 2009

Ok Alz ..... I believe you ! Lol ;~)))

11 Nov, 2009

Yes ...they were! Funnier still was that the Scottie was called "Darkie" and the terrier was called "Crazy" ....oh yes he was!! Because he looked like a clown with a half brown and half white face!! Anyway my father point blank refused to walk them as he was scared he would have to call them back if they ran off......I leave you to think that out!!!!

11 Nov, 2009

LOL ! :~))

11 Nov, 2009

Oh stop ..what an antedote this is ..so nice to sit here well with some of these images ..a dog with green knickers apprehended by the law ..I m in hysterics here your poor Dad .I used to have to tolerate this humping to stop guests being pestered .. the dog must ve thought I liked it ( no please dont go there - at least I stopped short of dressing them up first lol ) ..

As worked outside the aromas I brought home on my trousers would whip him into a frenzy so I would take them off as soon as I got in .. what a picture with dog clamped to me as I m taking them off ..

11 Nov, 2009

Stop it BB..I can't take much more!!! One leg out and one leg in ....doing the Hokey Cokey and shakin' it all about ...OMG

11 Nov, 2009

FOFLMAO !!!!!!!!

11 Nov, 2009

Should've done what Sinbad's cat did Ray, that would've got him off !!!! LOL ;~)))

11 Nov, 2009

Oh Sue please daft thing spent longer trying to get my plums than on his own thanks for suggestion but a bit risky with one leg in one leg out ..often considered going to the vets myself .. Jane would say I ll get coat ..

11 Nov, 2009

At least you would have got an apt. quicker than a GP one......LOL LOL

11 Nov, 2009

I'm still giggling at the picture in my head !!! The more I think about it, the funnier it gets !!! LOL

11 Nov, 2009

OMG this blogs hilarious the pictures that are going through my mind, the two or three or was it four glasses of wine I've just had aren't helping either, haven't laughed so much in ages, that was the reason for our dogs op Alz developed a lump caused by too much testosterone(oversexed)lol, and seeing my husband sat outside on the grass with a very large labrador on his back was the last straw, fudge just came out of nowhere and jumped on him,no one was safe, thing is hasn't made much difference.

11 Nov, 2009

Just saw the last bit ....... Nice one Jane !!! LOL

11 Nov, 2009

What dance was your hubby doing Simbad ??? LOL

11 Nov, 2009

Oh dear - poor Fudge....how long ago was his op? It can take up to a year for the testosterone to fall to an " acceptable " level. So he still "wants his oats" poor sod...LOL..Fudge I mean!!

11 Nov, 2009

Lol Alz, had his op last march, keep telling him not to bother he's firing blanks doesn't listen, hasn't tried it with the cat though, playing safe, lol
Don't know about dancing Sue he couldn't b****y move fudge is one strong dog,lol

11 Nov, 2009

I'll bet he hasn't tried it with the cat !! Maybe hubby should have done the same thing !! LOL

11 Nov, 2009

OMG I can't get that picture out my head now Sue :-))))))))))))

11 Nov, 2009

I'm sitting here giggling like a mad thing !!!!

11 Nov, 2009

OMG as chaotic as our house used to be ..Simbad. lol Even our parrot shouted pack it in ...Jane made matters worse by saying give daddy a kiss the dog thought she was talking to him the parrot shouting and repeating it made him more determined ..apparently vet thought it was too risky to remove as plums not descended and could risk heavy blood loss.

The dog not me ..

11 Nov, 2009

Sue..have you seen Digger's latest blog recently?

As for poor Fudge...he is one crazy mixed up pooch right enough and I would hope that his levels will be going down still. My late sister-in-law had a LARGE collie like that and had him knackered....it took certainly a year before I could safely take him out in case I met ANY other dog.....and I used to be a guide dog trainer...LOL
I just could not handle him...and had to hang on to every available lamp post or telegraph pole if another dog appeared. I once tied his lead to a fence and the B dog took off ...plus fence !! Nearly knocked everybody for six on the pavement..to get to a tiny wee poodle about 50 yards away.....he would have needed to get down on his knees for it..but knowing him he would have given it a try!!

11 Nov, 2009

S T O P !!!!!!! I can't get my breath !!!!! LMAO !!!!

11 Nov, 2009

I've been giggling so much that Henry was curious - and he came over and gave me a big wet lick! I have tears in my eyes, here! :-))))))))))

11 Nov, 2009

Be grateful that you're not Pipsqueak Spritz ...... her four jump on her !!! lol

11 Nov, 2009

LOL.

11 Nov, 2009

I have to say that the above is not about gardening and you must all go to the bottom of the class and sharpen the bl@@dy pencils, pull yourselves together, stop having fun and mentioning things like knackers, knickers and plums, and write out 100 times:
'I am a serious gardener, and I have no sense of humour...'

Honestly, can't leave you lot alone for 10 seconds. Disgraceful. 2/10.

;-)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))0

11 Nov, 2009

Sorry Miss !!!! lol :~))

11 Nov, 2009

Hear hear Sue !!!

11 Nov, 2009

Please Miss...can I leave the room?

11 Nov, 2009

Why Alz, got something attached to your leg ????? tee hee ;~))

11 Nov, 2009

On which edifying thought, I AM leaving the room - to go to bed!

Night-night, all. :-))

11 Nov, 2009

Bet we'll all have some very entertaining dreams tonight, folks!

Toodle-pip Old Bean!! xx

11 Nov, 2009

Hi everyone. I can finally type this comment after having to run upstairs quickly and being propelled around the room by the dogs. I have calmed down sufficiently now. Really must learn to put the dogs out before I Log On LoL :~))))))

12 Nov, 2009

Ah ha Pip .... GOTCHA !!! LOL !! Yes, we've been having a little bit of fun on here !! hee hee ! Glad I'm not the only one's who's up and down the stairs !!! lol ;~)))))

12 Nov, 2009

Thank goodness I rarely go upstairs.....takes me all my time to get round the downstairs these days...LOL I've got it all arranged to save energy....mine!!!!

12 Nov, 2009

Sounds like a plan Alz ! If I keep on laughing as much as I have on this, I shall have to seriously consider a commode !!! Lol ;~))

12 Nov, 2009

Reminds me of a cartoon I was sent not so long ago with a computer chair that had been converted from a loo....it was hilarious!!!

12 Nov, 2009

Wish they did them for real !! lol ;~))

12 Nov, 2009

It could be arranged, Sue!

;-)
xxx

12 Nov, 2009

Yes please B !!! lol ;~))

12 Nov, 2009

HMSLMAO!!!! I've got a stitch!!!
Smudge has jumped up beside me to see what I''m laughing at, & is purring away!!! (She cant read, you know!)

12 Nov, 2009

Of course she can ! You know how crafty cats are !! lol ;~)

12 Nov, 2009

Not out the back of her head, she cant!! LOL!

12 Nov, 2009

LOL ! When I come to this blog now, as well as thinking about poor old Fudge, I think of BB with a dog attached to his leg trying to get his plums, doing the hokey cokey with the parrot screeching Pack it in !! LOL ;~)))

12 Nov, 2009

Stop!! I'm so sore today! It hurts to laygh so much! The staff bed at work is like lying on corrugated iron!

12 Nov, 2009

You'll be better in your own bed tonight :~)

12 Nov, 2009

Definitely!! I went to bed as soon as I got in, but only slept for 3 hours (my usual!!)

13 Nov, 2009

Strange thing you know, I was very much like that. I worked shifts for years and after I retired I became a terrible insomniac. Since I found Goy, I'm sleeping so much better ! I think it's because I tire out my brain on here and then it sleeps when I go to bed !!! lol :~)))

13 Nov, 2009

I've been missing all the fun these last few days as so exhausted with the stress of moving so was in bed at 8.30 last night.
My get up and go has gone LoL.
Never mind fingers xd next Friday will be all over if it goes to plan and buyer doesn't try to gazunder me again !!!!

13 Nov, 2009

Catch up over at 'your place' Pip ;~))

13 Nov, 2009

I'm coming too!

13 Nov, 2009

How awful, Pip! That should be illegal, :-((( I do hope it all goes smoothly for you! One more week.......:-)

14 Nov, 2009

14 Nov, 2009

It still made us all laugh though, Alz! :-D

Hi there Spritz....have things calmed down your way yet? We escaped - so far!

14 Nov, 2009

Yes, thanks. I am so relieved! It went on for 24 hours non-stop! We have a break tomorrow before it gets stormy again on Monday - according to the forecast, that is!

14 Nov, 2009

Oh well - Henry will be relieved....LOL

14 Nov, 2009

Glad you're getting some respite from it Spritz!

14 Nov, 2009

we all like a bit of nonsence Alz,,:o))

15 Nov, 2009

I couldn't agree more.

15 Nov, 2009

love your labs, reminded me of my english setter she wasn't allowed on furniture but would sneak on when your back was turned have you seen a setter trying to hide in an armchair..... setters --you know-- are a few crumbs short of a biscuit but she could move across a room on her bottom (no biccy if you stand up!) without appearing to move gorgeous but thick as a brick! my lovely retriever would hang on to her collar in her "setter" moments. both gone now but you brought back lovely memories thanks...

16 Nov, 2009

Thanks, Marie - we had another respite day today! Great! I hope it continues....so does Henry. xx

16 Nov, 2009

I've met a couple of Setters in my time Pam and as you say, beautiful, but daft as a brush !! I just had a titter imagining your retriever hanging onto her collar when she was having one of her moments !! hee hee :~)

16 Nov, 2009

they are sue, as she got older instead of looking for you she would sit under the apple tree in the middle of the lawn and bark until someone came... often the retriever... she wasn't a dog who liked being on her own and whereas the retriever was easy to train she only learned what she wanted to ... usually involving food ! a very loving dog who would put her paws around your neck for a cuddle miss them both

17 Nov, 2009

I know. But you still have all of the lovely memories don't you bab :~)

17 Nov, 2009

Love the pics. of your GG's :o) x

20 Nov, 2009

Hi TT...yes they were a wonderful pair.....and I miss them still.
They were THE most devoted bro. and sis. ever....never a cross grrr in all their 14 years!! Amazingly little Sophie was definitely the boss though - except when it came to the sofa - obviously!!

20 Nov, 2009

Lovely to see how well they got on together...
I realise GG's wasn't quite right...
actually YB and YG !!!

20 Nov, 2009

Hi there TT.....yes they were called "Champagne Labs" on their paperwork!!
Sophie was very white - Scout was a bit darker on his back. Strangely enough my previous pair were also very white.
I just adore the pale ones ...dates back to my GDBA days I guess when the very first successful dog I trained was almost pure white and I was thrilled to bits - have never forgotten her either...and that is all of 44 years ago!!!!

20 Nov, 2009

What an absolutely hilarious blog !!! Many thanks for half an hour of non stop laughing out loud ! :~))

23 Jul, 2010

So glad you enjoyed it B8babe.....I have to say on seeing those pics again that was a daily occurrence ....Scout always was mothered by Sophie - who appeared to be the boss - but when it came to the best seat in the house - "Himself " was always in control....a real MCP as I said!!
My current pair of golden girls do not get up on the furniture - well not that I know about....and as the older of the two molts all year round - visitors who arrive wearing dark clothes , leave looking like Yetis....LOL

25 Jul, 2010

Great to see it again and have another laugh, Alz.

26 Jul, 2010

I'm still giggling !! ;~))

26 Jul, 2010

This is the other one thats kept us up half the night, doubled over with Wisteria!!!
And I thought our group was nuts!

25 Feb, 2011

made me remember my dogs..... lovely......

25 Feb, 2011

Yes I read about your lab and engish setter Pamg what a wonderful pair they were...you could almost believe they were siblings the way one looked after the other! I love gorden setters, but you dont see them much.

25 Feb, 2011

a friend had a gordon called guy--lovely dog and less scatty than Kate but she wasn't as highly strung as the red setter-- some of them are mad! :o))--- its lovely to remember them, I seem to do that more since I joined Goy-or got a little madder myself......
there are so many lovely animals here.....

25 Feb, 2011

Hi Pamg and Tetrarch....so pleased to see that this is still causing a few chuckles......I even started laughing myself - after all this time! Mind you - the one about giving a cat a pill I think is even funnier...and nearer the truth than any of us animal lovers would dare admit!!
I think it is time I changed my avatar - as my latest "rescues" are also yellow and mellow - and photogenic!! I am currently a three lab household...not sure for how long though as the old blind lady is nudging 14 and failing.

25 Feb, 2011

Hi Alzheimer, I was beginning to feel guilty over the Moony and Stourhead blogs but our excuse was winter blues..what was yours?????
Had a right good laugh over all the antics..Bonkersbon never mentioned his limp last time I spoke..coward! lol!

25 Feb, 2011

Golly - I wrote a response and it disappeared...eeek!
Anyway Tetrarch.....it has been a long weary and bitterly cold winter and somehow I just didn't have the time to "drop in" here like I used - when I was post-foot-op and immobile...LOL
I obviously had a premonition yesterday about my elderly blind labrador as she was put to sleep this morning. Poor old Honey - I will miss her hugely ...she was one of the kindest and most loving labs I have ever had - and I have had a lot! No doubt the two recent rescues will keep me from wearying. Isn't it sad that we have to outlive our wonderful pets. Still - as one emailer said this morning - our memories last longer than our dreams. Very true!

26 Feb, 2011

Had a quiet tear for your my dear, but there is no escaping these things, without the sorrow we wouldnt have the sheer joy of having such a pal.
God bless Honey, you will see everything now.

26 Feb, 2011

Thank you Tetrarch for your kind words. You are so right - our sadness at parting is such a small price to pay for the life-long privilege of their loyalty and love.
As you say - my old blind pal will see everything now and hopefully will be beside her chum Di who passed away just a few months ago too.

26 Feb, 2011

Oh Alz so sorry to hear this news, thinking of you, really don't know what to say, so sad when our pets leave us xx

27 Feb, 2011

Thank you Simbad...it is a big wrench but I know she is at peace now and never suffered. My two 6 year olds will keep me from moping although when we came home from our moor walk just now - the house seemed very empty...as she always gave us such a big welcome.
Latterly being blind - she couldn't manage the thigh-high heathery moors...but loved the local field where she could wander to her hearts content.

27 Feb, 2011

Kathy. So hilarious! Added my comment so everyone who commented before can have a laugh again.

28 Mar, 2014

I've just had another read Dawn its a while since I read the comments on here,I'm laughing again :-))))

29 Mar, 2014

Hi everybody.....I got a surprise when alerted that there were comments on this old blog of mine ....but on re-reading it - I found myself cackling with laughter all over again...LOL
Mind you I still think the "feeding pills to cats" is the best...I still can't read it out aloud to "friends and family" without corpsing.....;>>)))

PS my two current rescue labs - Sophie and Scout are keeping me going - Scout was 10 yesterday - going on 2...!! His "partner" Sophie will be 10 in Sept and has a heart condition BUT you would never know it - TG
In fact she copes a lot better with her meds than I do with mine...Ha Ha
I definitely want to come back as a dog!!!!!!
Yours aye
Alz x
