This is even more like my rambling rose that i am trying to find out about, although i purchased mine from a garden centre. The roses don't last long they always seem to flower when there is heavy rain or high winds that knocks all the petals off and then that is it for the rest of the year. I am left with fast growing greenery that i haven't a clue how to look after. Hope you can give me some advice. Regards Sue

Hi Sadie, Why dont you cut the stump down to ground level, get rid of it altogether, we did this with 4 Leylandii last year..

you could try splitting the hostas, next doors dog dug mine up and! and killed all the new growth, but the leaves grew again!!! it was about this time last year, so take a chance id say...i dont know about the ferns, ive just started growing them this year but i wouldnt chance it...Dee..

On question - Ideas please????

the herons can destroy a pond and the fish as i found out when i first put one in. lost most of my fish the first yr,, one Koi survived and happy to say he is still doing well. i got one of those fake herons and so far it has done the job of keeping the real herons away

If this is a Ceanothus we are talking about then I don't know why the flowers are now yellow.
I do know that they do like well drained soil ,a sheltered site and are frost to half hardy. They are best positioned south or west facing in cold areas.
If the leaves are at all yellow this may indicate an iron deficiency or the possibility of too much water.
