First seeds sown have germinated

Its so exciting to see all the tiny green shoots appear. My Sweetpeas are now 4 inches tall, I will be sticking them out in the cold frame when they are about 6 inches tall to harden off.

The hollyhocks, Chillies and Geraniums have just started to pop up and the Avocado I grew from a supermarket stone is now 8" high and looks like a tiny tree, this is a curious experiment which I am eager to pursue, whether it will be successfull or not I dont know :-)

Im also very proud of my daughter who appeared in the Cambridge news with her Animal Respect campaign outside Tescos, handing out brochures for making people aware of Battery hens cruel conditions. Here is the link for those interested. My daughter is the one right at the front.

Is that the same one that Donna has been blogging about? It would be interesting to know.

Yes, I shall have to make room in the coldframe for my sweet peas, too! They are certainly ready to make a move.

Yes Donnah initiated the Little Hen Rescue centre and I became interested with having chickens myself and very fond of their amusing character and habits :-)

well done to your daughter , we only buy free range now , and if the shelves are empty we choose a different menu, ie fish or lamb.just wish the supermarkets had a better choice with chicken portions , it's difficult to get free range thighs etc, but it's getting better. tesco is the worst offending supermarket in my opinion..................steve
