I've got some tallish bullrush like plants that the dragonflies like to rest on.

wow - this is lovely! i have quite a few Rhododendrons that a bought last year, so have'nt seen them in full bloom yet, they have lots of buds on and looking at yours is getting me all excited! lol

great picture. I love bird pics, & combined with flowers, even better.

 

Perhaps a winged foxglove aphid? Don't really know, there are soooo many species out there. Fantastic photo though!

 

Oh, there are so many! Buddlejas are very good, as are Origanum, Thyme and Lavenders. I'm trying to think back to the summer - Erigerons seem to attract them, too and Hebes. They seem to enjoy plants with clusters of small flowerlets, If you have a wild corner, nettles are good for butterflies.

 

Run for your life - it's a giant aphid!
