Gardeners hand cream

By Scotkat

For all you gardeners here is a nice tip and cheaper for your hands.

Not Vaseline although you could use that.

When I was in America a few weeks ago I had sore lips so I bought rose lip salve .

I have used it also on my hands and my hands are nice and soft.

I don’t think I shall ever use or buy hand cream now only rose lip salve.

Sounds good, is it the sort that comes in a tin, or a tube? Always looking for something good to use on my hands, mixture of old age and gardening without gloves, wreaks havoc on them. Can't garden in gloves, find them annoying and tends to lock out my fingers - again old age and arthritis! I read an old book the other day which recommended olive oil and sugar to use on rough skin and to soften your hands, use like soap, rubbing them well, and then rinse off.

It's a tin HS you would get this in a chemist to the Body Shop .

I have also used olive oil .

But yes tried and tested the rose lip salve and you only need a wee bit on your finger out of the tin.

This sounds like an interesting find Kath! I've used loads of hand creams over the years... mainly due to having my hands in cold water so often! I go through phases with handcream ~ my favourite at the moment is Nivea Q10 plus... It has a slight perfume too! :o) I'm willing to give the rose Lip Salve a go sometime...!

Sounds a good idea! Must try that some time Kath. And I love the scent of Roses.

Yes Karen mŷ hands are so so soft .

The rose lip salve is not strong scented and you only need a small amount on your finger then rub your hands .

Even though I have a dish washer I still have to hand wash other dishes so hands in and out if water often.

And my hands are still soft.

That sounds good, Kath - I shall keep an eye out for it.

I use Nunails and Cocoabutter, at the moment nothing is working as my hands spend so much time in the compost, my own fault but gloves are a flipping nuisance when potting on small plants, anyway I have a nasty habit of forgetting them, lol...

Lincslass try the lip salve it's in a small tin you only need a wee bit

I may even put on my feet mŷ hands are so so soft .

Linclass, have you ever tried surgical gloves...? I had to use them when I cut my finger badly. I found that they are tight and felt like a second skin, I'm sure they'd be helpful when you are potting up! ;o)
