Tale of Large Red Pots

By Scotkat

For a few years now I have had two of the same pots mirror planted up with alpine plants.

But as the yrs have gone past the plants are now starting to do the same.

I think I would like to repot them but maybe this time with 1 plant.

Even thought of some red heucheras.

Very happy if you can suggest anything different.

Just popped over to Ashbrook to get my Green Spice Heucheras as I already have this one in a pot on front step it matched with the red pots and only needed 1 in each pot along with Raspberry Nemisa

Hi Kath, I wouln't know what to suggest, I'm not really into growing plants in containers, I prefer them in the ground, much less trouble there, lol, Derek.

I may get small rhodies.

I think mixed colour heuchera look fantastic, I'm experimenting with dark and light at the moment......obsidian and apple crisp, tapestry and midnight rose ......its fascinating, maybe next year 3 or even 4......

Hard to know what to suggest, Kath. I know plants are often easier in the ground, but I love my pots. I always have some permanent ones and some summer-only. I like pots of sempervivens. The lower, dish-type pots look really good. Otherwise, I think almost anything will go in a pot!

I've not had much success with heucheras in the ground - perhaps I haven't got the right conditions, or have just planted them in the wrong place. I think I might try them in pots, though, because I do love them.

Karen is the Heuchera queen. She will advise you best.
