Just pinched out the head of my Standard Fuchsia

By Scotkat

I received a cutting last year of the hardy fuchsia Phyllis from a garden friend.

I started it last year from a tip cutting and it has now overwintered and started to grow ever so well again.

So today I managed to get a multi pot of tip cuttings which will end up in the Walled Garden project glasshouse of Glamis Castle.

And yesterday at Glamis I staked up 2 of the rooted cuttings I have started off as wee standards.

Once I take a photo I shall upload tomorrow sometime.

There is something so very stylish about plants growing as standards. I too will be looking forward to seeing them as they mature.

Isn't it just so nice that plants you have grown will be in such a famous beautiful place x

TT I am retired my own garden and Glamis gets my attention.

I took up another tray of rooted fuchsias to Glamis on Tues I had hoped to go up today to split and repot and repot and tie up the standards I was growing .

But its tipping of rain and to get worse.

The paid gardeners will be glad to stay in glasshouse today.

The head on my Phylis Standard is amazing .I got a tip cutting from a friend 2yrs ago .

And the 1st yr I grew on as a whip and did get it through the 1st winter and this is its 2nd year and has a full head full of buds ready to burst.

I am so thrilled .

First time growing a standard.
