Sunday Wind Damage

By Scotkat

We are having such terrible changeable weather.

Saturday I was walking through Rhodendrums on a sunny warm day at Glendoick Gardens.

Then Sunday it was so very cold wind then hailstones then rain then galeforce wind.

I was moving picking up retrieving then suddenly one of my trellis’s on other decking area got blown down breaking my Mrs Traux clematis which was full of buds ready to open.

So to day I am going to dismantle repaint trellis then replant with a new Mrs Bateman.

When all finished I shall add photos to this blog.

Yes, Kath, Sunday was vile here, too, after a beautiful day on Saturday. Sorry to hear of the damage to your garden, it's so disappointing to lose things about to flower. I only lost some tulips which were snapped off in the wind, but they were getting past their best, so I was lucky.
Miss Bateman is a brilliant clem. Such a pure white.

That's so disappointing when climbers get wrecked. I hope replacing the trellis isn't too difficult.

Oh what a shame, I hate it when the plants get blown down. Very windy here today, but interspersed with sunshine and showers.

it is very windy almost all year round where i live, im hoping my plants will become accustomed to it, and for some reason my front garden is windier than the back! but it is so heartbreaking when plants get blown about and damaged, so i do feel for you!

Oh no Kath. I was concerned on sunday as well because my young trees were all bending right over again. Oh dear....that is so annoying about the clematis....hope it recovers well for you.

so sorry to hear of the damage it was horrible on Sunday wasn't it, hope you get the trellis fixed and you haven't too many losses..

Sorry to hear about your clematis. Wind was awful wasn't it! Was really pleased to find very little damage this time. Considering all the fencing and sheds at new year that had to be fixed. Looking forward to you pics :)

Thank you all .

Yes the wind was really terrible.

I have moved the broken clematis and hopefully it may recover with TLC.

I repainted trellis and tomorrow will get it all fixed back to deck.

Then Miss Batemen will start to grow on the trellis.

Sorry to hear that you've lost your Clematis just before it was about to flower. Last year we had some freakish winds which broke the trunk of my Mimosa Tree. It was over 10 foot high and was also full of buds - I was pretty upset because it was the first time it would have flowered:o(((

Oh no Tracy what a shame.

Trellis now repainted to match alpine bed and Miss Batemen happily planted up.

Where she can grow away nice.
