The Dundee Flower Show

By Scotkat

A really good show yesterday. One big tent a lot better this year.

We were like kids in a sweetie shop.

I had never been on the first day, weather was just perfect like a real summers day .

One stand I really like this pale blue gentian but never looked at the name as we had just arrived never bought it.

Went back later and all sold .

I may come across it sometime.

But his display was beautiful.

All big terracota pans I really did like the gentians all grouped together in a big pot spectacular.

I had not been for a few years and weather not been great but so glad we drove up yesterday.

I bought pink crocus bulbs, and dwarf daffodils and double snowdrops from Cambo.

And Tomato seeds and carrot seeds .

I had geered my self to buying another vanda orchid if there had been a vendor there but no orchid vendors.

So I will go online and treat myself.

Hope you can get up David it really was good this year.

It really was a grand day out and weather fantasic today its looking more like rain.
I did write the name on the bag BjS Zontas if my spelling is correct it was very busy on the bulb stand.

That would be Crocus kotschyanus (synonym Zonatus) that you bought, Scotskat. Zonatus is the older name.
The show looks great but not many people about?

Glad you had a good time there Kath. The flowers and veg there put my littl amount and quality of garden produce to shame. Never mind I have something to aim at :-)

Lovely Gentians on that stall, Scotkat. Loved the colours of the flowers, just lovely! Not so keen on the blue & white striped one, reminded me of Petunias!

The 8th photo from last is a lovely Abyssinian Gladiolus, isn't it? I grew some once but they died out & I never did get any more. ;-( Just today as I was on my way to the allotment I walked past a garden where they have several plants with open flowers. Lovely! :-)

Found it on Wikipedia after doing a search on the net:

I was going to see if I could get a photo of this Abyssinian Gladiolus but the flowers were hanging their heads so couldn't get a photo of them. :-(
