It's Fuchsia magellanica. A species which is native to South America.

Yes now that I've seen the earlier photo I remember.
I must have thought it was wood because you called it an "oregano staircase".
I know your question about the time was for Irish but when I wrote the first comment it was about 11 pm here , so what was it with you ?
