Thanks Lori! I don't know much about birds, though I like to watch them fly about...I haven't seen the baby bird since that day, hopefully he managed to get somewhere more stable than the geranium branch! I think he either fell out of the nest or that was also his maiden flight...I really should look him up in a bird encyclopedia, but I haven't had time.. could be a baby cardinal, i suppose, but I've never seen the female..just the male,,,but then again, where there's one there's bound to be more! =) So maybe you're right.

I think he was a baby, Jacque, I saw him fly - in a very wobbly way - across the courtyard and I think the first green thing the poor bird saw was my geranium... =)

He did after awhile, Irish, but he stayed quite a long time chirping..it almost seemed to me that he was falling asleep! I did see his eyes close from time to time, and ut was late - about 7:30pm.

It is, for the most part - it must be a low growing type because it hardly ever needs to be cut - I think once a month is it.

I know! It makes me think of the stalk in Jack and the beanstalk - according to my mother the huge leaves help keep the rain out of my brother's room!

Raining here in Texas, thanks to Edouard, started raining early this morning and will continue until tomorrow, but it is steady rain, so hopefully we won't have too much flooding...rain is needed, in July we only had 9 days of rain, I believe...temps are in the 100 degree range as well, it's been as high as 104 F, it's cooled off with the rain but will climb back up to 97, 98 F by Thursday. Interesting there's so much rain in so many places...

Hi Jacque: hope all goes well at the doctor's; you could also try a chiropractor, a good one will tell you if he/she can help you or not, also, neuropathy is something that diabetics tend to get, but I've been taking borage oil 1000mg a day and so far have not developed it, it's been almost ten yrs since I was diagnosed, I was 29 am now 37. It helps to reduce inflamation of the nerves and they use it in Germany to treat neuropathy. My mom tried it as well and has helped her pain in the legs as well - she was diagnosed much later than me with diabetes, she's now 73. Don't usually give this type of advice (you never know hoe people will take it) but thought it could be useful.

Thanks everyone for all your nice comments - I am feeling a bit better, I decided to just rest - amazingly I slept for about 9 hours today and they do say sleep is needed to heal - and I have noticed a big difference. But oh that is the worst feeling to want to do things and not be able to do them, but maybe it's also a way to teach us that we don't have to be in such a hurry!

That's a good idea, thanks Wohlibuli...I might use one of the clay saucers...I think they will come, because I've seen them flying about, especially in the two courtyards that separate the apartment buildings...I even got a picture of the cardinal, but I haven't been able to put it up...

Hi Blodyn and Irish: if you do try it let me know if it works! =)
Hi Marguerite: it seems to be working fine, though sometimes it's hard to tell...but all my roses are blooming, the red one especially almost looks like they could be red berries among the green leaves from far away...I don't know if it's because they're hybrid miniatures, but I have never smelled any scent from them...this could also be due to my allergies...in any case, I haven't noticed anything...I've never had a cat, for some reason my parents don't like them, and it never occurred to me to get one after I left home, either, but - just a random comment - I've read that catnip and baby blue eyes are nice treats for them to have in the garden.
