It looks like Polypody one of our native ferns. If indoors suggest you keep it cool.

They germinate very well , but you will have to wait now until the tree starts to leaf in Spring, then your seeds will sprout.

I think it is Sedum rupestre monstrosum cristatum. , it seems a suitable name anyway. I had it ion ce but it died on me.

Congratultions very helpful such good photos

On blog - 'Berry' nice!

It certainly looks like Sorbaria but I have never seen one that rich in colour.

The one in the front coukld be a Mammillaria or Rebutia

On question - any cactus people...

Super picture

Mine too are all ripe. Cut branches kept in a cool shady shed last for several weeks. Sometimes we have stuck Cotoneaster berries on to the Holly if it has been lost to the Blackbirds.

Sorry Owdboggy. When I saw spurius , I did think it a joke. Must have entered wrong spelling when asking Mr Google. I tried again and received assurance. I shall have to alter all my labels and move with the times.

On question - what is this

When faced with the inevitable, the wise man ,makes use of it.. Buy a book on Gnomes and learn to love plywood frogs.
The only things you can change are your felings about it.

On question - SKB'

Owdboggy is this a joke. I asked Mr Google and he didn't reply.

On question - what is this

Seed germinates very well, but best not expect any to start until growth begins on similar trees outdoors.. Slugs, snails and birds all love young seedlings.

Vinca minor varigata.. Is silver varigated and keeps bright throughout the year, would mnake good undercarpet.

If it is losing leaves from inside it is most likely just normal leaf fall. Even evergreens have a lifespan for the leaves and seversal conifers last three years before falling.

Thanks Wagger. The tree produced a new Bonsai style, called crunch.. Reminds me though of a seedbed of various trees growing near a Fox's den. I was pleased not to have to worry about rabbit damage, However the Fox had cubs and they used to come and play on the green shading. I had quite a number of Bonsai starters with curving trunks.

Thanks Sandra. Have written blog about what happened to it.

I don't think you need cut the root ball as long as the tree is dormant.. I doubt if there will be a tap root as this is usually grown elsewhere before planting in your garden.

Welcome to GOY. It is unwise to move it until leaves have fallen. February would be best but it is fairly safe anytime once leaves hgave fallen and tree is dormant..

I use a cut up piece of green shading and chuck in some 3mm grit or any other similar material

The Cannabis from Bird seed is not the smokeable type. but Robin is laughing a lot lately.

A mechanical barrier, of corrugated plastic sheet was able to stop Bamboo from spreading, so should work on other less agressive tree roots. I sank it about 1ft. deep. but trees might need to go down a bit deeper.

Poke Salad Annie Song by Elvis Presley. Real good story.
I had it grow up in my garden once, I believe it is poisonous.

On question - What is this?

If they are wormlike and with msny legs they could be millipedes which do no real harm to anything.

There are two types of Chinese Elm. The indoor evergreen variety. or the larger leaved deciduous kind . The Indoor has leaves approx 1cm long, the leaf losing one has leaves from 2 to 3 cms. long. If ir is the larger leaved it would be better to just let it take its seasonal rest. Water only when soil surface is dry and stop feeding.. If it is the small leaved Indoor kind , again stop feeding and make sure that it is not waterlogged., is there a drainage hole to the container?. stand it in a well lit place but not in full sun and new leaves should appear. To check if tree is still alive , make a very small scratch of the bark, if it shows green or white all is well, but if it shows brown then make similar check lower down . brown wood is dead wood.. The indoor one iis liable to do this leaf losing if moved to a warmer or colder position, usually recovers quite quickly.Keep frost free but cool. Good Luck

I have just taken a picture of my Garage doorway with Pyracantha and uploaded it. Its not a good picture but does show what you can expect. but watch out for thorns.

I think it is a Camassia, before the buds open. Almost all the google pix show the open flowers but I found with the bud showing. hehehe xxx

On question - please id this

Lesser Periwinkle (Vinca minor) with varigated silver leaves is useful. as it gives colour after the Spring when most of the woodlanders come into flower. Wild Garlic(Ramsons) and Wood Sorrel.are two of my favourites. As Burgundy says Nature can make a lovely display. with Bluebells as well, they\grow through the Vinca.

If there are a few green leaves still on the tree it may well survive. It may go right on through till next spring and then start afresh, so dont move it again. In my road, already some full grown big trees are losing their leaves because of the drought, but they will start again in the Spring. I hope.

Sad to say it died. It was asking a lot . I think I should have covered the exposed roots but was over confident and maybe forgot to water it often enough in that one short week of hot weather. . I have left it in place and the pot had now grown a Leycesteria formosa, self sown . I will take a picture and post it in the next few days.

One of the white buttterflies lays yellow eggs in groups, if you rub these out it saves a lot of trouble. but unfortunetly the other one lays seperate eggs and you need that glove.

On question - Caterpillars
