Interesting plant.

My first time with this climber, its done really well. I find most annual Ipomaeas are good late summer plants. I aways push a few seeds in the ground at the base of roses or clematis/sweetpeas and forget about them.
I then get a pleasant suprise when they bloom. As I type this, looking out of the window I can see Ipomaea tricolor 'Heavenly Blue' I.lobata (as above) and an Ipomaea that has white with purple stripe blooms. I find they thrive in my dry, thin and poor soil.

I only have one now but I've had several over the years. maybe I'll try and replace them next year.

remember that the moss has a 'sponge effect' in helping to retain moisture which helps the bonsai.

pity about the camera but your description was sooo good.
i adore the crassula rupestis. mine even attracted my brothers eye and he dosent do house plants....

your description of the alpine house brought back memories of a park i used to play in as a child. if it was raining wed take cover in on of the two victorian glasshouses. all the pots sunk into the tables. oh the smell was lovely...
glad you enjoyed your day out...;-))

Happy birthday ! Thanks for describing your outing, and I always enjoy your memories of years gone by....

A pity your camera wasn't working while you were visiting Wisley. That was a lucky coincidence about the Crassula. The rooted sections look very healthy !

I scoop midge larvae out of the water but and chuck them in the pond for the fish. they go mad for them.

Nice photo Poaannua, don't see the commas very often.

Lovely to have that greenhouse with seedlings and little plants at standing level. No bending down, great.
