From my neck of the woods then Terry. Yes Styal was well worth a visit too.

Yes, there is a working museum full of the looms, with demonstrations & interactive things to do & the largest water wheel still working in Britain apparently. I took a good hour to go through the visitor centre, it was very interesting. Unfortunately photos inside weren't allowed.

Yes Spritz is was well worth doing & I did enjoy every minute of it just as you will, but afterwards rather than there being an anti-climax after the event, you can again appreciate & enjoy your own space knowing it has given pleasure to lots of people. Best of luck, enjoy it, dont get uptight about, it will be good.

Take a cutting from the shoots off the tuber when they are 2 or 3 inches, so strong enough to be potted up in sowing compost in a small pot. Don't cut into the tuber itself. The tuber will keep sending out more shoots. Good luck. I will put a pic of my cuttings taken about 3 months ago.

Certainly you can keep the tubers, they can be left in the ground if your soil is well drained so that they dont rot, but to be on the safe side its perhaps best to lift them. Dig them up, allow them to dry & remove the soil residue then store them in a dry, dark place (a box maybe in the shed) some people store them in their house. Then start them off again in spring. Trim any thin weak roots off leaving plump healthy tubers. Start them off in a tray of shallow compost, up to (but not covering the crown), keep them moist & before long they will start producing shoots which you can take as cuttings to pot on & wait for more shoots before planting the whole tubers.
This year I took 8 cuttings from 3 B.of Llandaff tubers which are now garden ready & the tubers are now planted in the garden & doing great so give it a go.

Lucky you Jacque, non-stop rain here today. Your new border shape looks fantastic, what a difference. I am really envious of you having that to start from scratch. I can just see it filled with gorgeous perennials; or maybe not? What are you planning for it, do you know yet?

I hope my "star gazer" lillies are the same beautiful red when they come out.

No I like cats just not their habits. When your 2 yr old daughter is digging with her hands in the border (copying me) & then the next day you find cat poo in the very same spot as I did the other day, I am ready to string the cat up. Which is what I would do if my daughter was affected by it; THEY CAN CAUSE BLINDNESS YOU KNOW.

Thanks All. Some good pointers there too.

I hate this sort of thing with a passion. Senseless, ignorant & often jealous individuals with no regard for anything or anyone. I know what I would like to do to these lawless cretins!! I was brought up to not throw so much as a sweet wrapper on the floor (my mum's pockets were full by the time we got home) & it has stuck with me; respect other people's property like you would your own. Therein lies the problem, these people don't even respect their own. Apart from stringing them up by the proverbials, I would be tempted to buy a cheap camera; if not a deterrent, at least you may put a face to the mindless idiots. Best of luck.

It's no wonder some teenagers leave school & still can't spell or compose a decent letter/C.V. "Speaking from personal experience here."
