Izz'ys Visit to Clayton Hall

Laura our Grandaughter took Izzy [Great Grandaughter] on a visit to Clayton Hall.

“Clayton Hall” is a Grade 2 Listed building and a rare example of a moated medieval site, the original hall was built for the Clayton family in the 12th Century, it later passed into the hands of the Byron family of which the poet Lord Byron was a member. The Byrons lived there until they sold it to two London merchants George and Humphrey Chetham Humphery was famous for building Chethams School and Library in the centre of Manchester. Over the centuries the building has undergone many alterations, the oldest part dates back to the 15th century and was partly rebuilt and enlarged in the 18th century with further remodelling in the 20th century. The Hall is now owned by Manchester City Council, the Museum at Clayton Hall now provides hands on educational faculities for schools and groups.

Of course Izzy just had to try out the Horse Mounting Block!

Once inside the Hall Izzy really enjoyed herself dressing up in the costume clothing available, She really looks the part a proper little Maid!

A maids work is never done, first the washing!

Then its the baking!

A feast to layout!

At last time to get stuck in!

A glass of wine to help the food go down!

“A nice cuppa to finish off”

A little tune on the Piano

“Here is a nice Dolly with a House of her own!”

More Toys to play with

This is a nice bedroom, I might come to sleep next time ;0))

After a lovely visit it was time to leave for home, but Im sure she will be visiting again soon;0))

Lovely little maid isn't she and such a busy one, lol,
I think its great that so many places make it entertaining for the little ones as well, I like to see the children dressing up and using the bits-n-bobs put out for them, so many of which are educational..An enjoyable visit obviously and such lovely photo's Pansy....

Snoopdog is right. Memories are made that way. I always liked brussels sprouts even at that age though for some unknown reason eating carrots always gave me the hiccups.Thank you for sharing this wonderful outing with Izzy.

Awe Carol she s cute she seemed to be enjoying her self. I an recall having to wash loke that wringer and all in the 70s , I soon learned if you did nt fold shirts a certain way it would brake the buttons.
