The Joys and Colours of Springtime in My Garden 2013

Just enjoyed an hour inbetween rain showers to take a few pictures for my records, thought you may like to share with me

First of all the Drumstick Primula Denticula, I favourite of mine, the white one was a gift from Sandra last year

The wonderful golden Crocus planted throughout the borders and Rockery.

A variety of primulas both in size, form and colour, a real bonus this time of the year, although lots of them are looking quite soggy and tatty after the Hail and the rain.

Pulmonaria running late this year, this is the first to start opening, its a similar story with the For get me nots which are only just starting to bud

Time for a few pansies, these are planted in borders and pots, I have grown the Frilly ones this year too for a change very pretty but a little too fussy, think I prefer the other Pansies best

Muscarri blue and White again planted in both pots and borders.

Bring on the Daffs they are everywhere in all shapes, colours and sizes, It wouldnt be Spring without them would it?

Now a rest from all the bright flowers and time to look at some soothings Greens, just starting to develop.

First Wallflowers, amazing as once they start to floower they last well into the Autumn.

Next Aquilegia popping up all over. Easy to mistake for other plants at this stage, so please correct me if you dont think these right;0)

Time now for the Sedums, so oversatile and reliable, the lovely foliage and pretty flat flower heads are a magnet for Bees and insects and the plants last until the first frost

Here is my much loved Princess Victoria Louise just love her!

Another little work horse is Campanula great in pots and rockeries with its carpet of blue/white flower bells.

Heuchera a very popular groundcover plant with many new varieities, This is an old one Palace Purple looking great already!

Wow love to see the upright Red shoots of the Peony pushing upwards like an army of soldiers on parade and the best treat is still to come.

Ribes a common garden shrub which is always welcomed by the early bees buzzing around the flowers.

A lovely gift from my good friend Sandra, 6 Hyacynths to go in my pot,and what a suprise for us both Sandra thought they were going to be 6 Pink and look Three pink and three White [one of the white struggling]

I have 2 identical pots and planting either side of the garden, both planted with Tulips, Daffs and Anemone [ the Daffs are the Shaggy ones, much prefer the traditional ones] also there is is a dwarf bush Rose in the centre of each!

Trough planted with Bellis, Pansies, Muscarri, and Primula

Two identical pots again Planted with Primulas and Sweet William [the latter just takes over as the season progress’s]

Thats all for now folks, but just before I finish, can you see the Box Blight on the bush on the right?, Im afraid it is going to have to go, Im thinking what to replace it with, any suggestions will be welcomed.!

Thanks for viewing and hope you are all enjoying your plants too.

I am surprised how far behind you are 'up north' our daffs are nearly over and the tulips are just coming out,
even with a grotty winter we didn't have snow or the very low temperatures, I am sure it will even itself out soon.

You really have some tremendous colour going on both in the garden and in your pots. It makes you feel alive and raring to go with the bit of sunshine we are having at the moment, just hope it lasts.

My goodness PP your garden is so full of colour! It puts mine to shame at the moment. I've used Nematodes for the first time this year, against the slugs. It remains to be seen how successful it will be.

21 Apr, 2013

Hi Waddy thanks I am pleased with it this Spring, Its strange as I have just been reading about Nematodes I think they are what Sandra used last year, I put on the outside lights the other evening when it had been raining and the Patio was covered with them so I will have to take some action and will give the Nematodes a go;0)
