Now, THAT was a surprise. Didn’t expect to get any well wishers considering I wasn’t looking for any. But thanks to you all. I seem to have been suffering all winter. If there is anything going about, then, seeing my immune system is so low, I seem to get everything. Diabetes is not helping either, but for the last few days, I have been suffering from sciatica and sinus problems. Anyway, enough of that. I will keep taking the tablets.
Managed to get into the garden today and do a bit of pottering around. I transplanted some Lollo Rosso salad leaves, for Cut and Come Again. I grew them for the first time last year and found them great. Saved a lot by not having to throw away lettuce that went off quickly. I could just cut off what I needed for a salad, so long as I didn’t cut out the crown. They seems to get better, the more they are cut. Hopefully, they will have some green ones on the Market tomorrow. I need to put in some Rocket too.

Thought you might be interested in these Daffs. They have three heads on each stalk and I’ve never seen them before.

Now for our favourite enemy – SLUGS & SNAILS
This is my armoury for doing battle with them.
Slug Clear – Diluted with water and sprayed around the roots of plants, especially Hosta, and all over the containers, pots, tubs and patio, coz those little critters will slide up through the joins in the slabs. The small ones are the worst, as they will clear you out of anything. They want to grow as rapidly as they can so the they can breed and produce even more of the little devils.
Slug Barrier
This product is produced by the Baby Bio people, but I haven’t seen it about this year yet. It consists of crushed sea shells and can be spread around plants or all over the top of pots. Looks OK until it starts getting a bit mossy. I wonder if that place at Kings Lynn has any?
Egg Shells
Egg shells do the same as the Barrier only you can produce these yourself. I usually zap mine in the microwave for a minute or so and them crush them and spread them around the bottoms of the plants.
Coffee Grounds
We might like ground coffee, but slugs don’t. Just make a wide band of it onto the garden. Lots of coffee shops will save it for you.
WD 40
Spray WD 40 around your pots and tubs. Slubs and snails won’t slide over the sprayed band.

Spritz, WD 40 should be OK after all, it's only a lubricant, but read the label firts.
As I said to Jacque, I don't know if they are perfumed, because at the moment I am having a sinus problem and lost my sense of smell. LOL 'll have a sniff if the sense comes back before they are deadheaded.
I hve never seen these before, but came from a friend who had a nursery. Pity he's just sold up and the land will be a builders depot

Hi Ken! I've been seeing "Bridal Crown" recently in garden centres here, sold in bowl/basket arrangements (but never thought to sniff them). They remind me of narcissus "Paper White", which I once grew indoors for a Christmas table centrepiece; this is a scented variety, and so I would guess that "Bridal Crown" may also be a scented variety. Nice flowerheads on yours!

Glad you've felt able to potter, Ken. I am quite sure that this will make you feel better. Lovely Narcissi - are they fragrant? Interesting ideas for the slug-battle, some of which I've tried with no success. I haven't tried WD 40! I shall check with my other half to see if he has any, do you think it would be OK to use with Henry around?
