After the deluge..then came the SUN this evening:))))

After being trapped indoors all day due to heavy rainfall, the sun came out this evening, went out to see if I still had a garden instead of a river, to my surprise all was well, starting from the house to the bottom.

From the kitchen door, the path dried up very quickly, see at the very end of the picture there are 2 tall trees, this is where I am planning to replant my precious Rosa ‘Kiftsgate’ she will face the field and can make her way onto other shrubs and trees along the boundary, she will not be able to hurt anybody with her thorns as there are no reasons to get this close to her.

Brandon’s garden looking lush

Then to the rose garden

The roses.. although a bit droopy are doing well

Wet lips, but happy

The heart shaped lawn garden is coping very well…this lawn is no longer there, I have dug it out this evening 22/07/12, will be replacing it with something that will not need mowing.

After the heart shaped garden, don’t look at the bench, I have not sat here in a long time….this lawn is no longer there, I shall replace it with something which will not require mowing.

Roseraie de l’Hay and Rosa Iceberg intertwined, don’t know what’s going on there, I’ve lost it a little bit here.

From there.. under the arches to my favourite garden

There she is, inside her now. There are a further 2 living arches I created 3 weeks ago… at the far right leading to the next garden, I forgot to go into.

Looking in from another entrance

Penstemon firecracker, I bought this plant 2 yrs ago, it was tiny, it got so big, I divided it yesterday, got 4 plants, it’s looking good in it’s new home after all the rain we have had earlier.

Also moved these 3 plants from the rose garden, the rain did them good too

Need to pick those up before dark

Also moved these

and these

Cotoneaster

Tall Coreopsis, I brought 2 tiny roots from my old garden, now I have this much

this much

this much

this much

this much, this is at the bottom of the secret garden, this border is 5 feet deep 50 feet long, this plant runs the full length.

this much, and it keeps spreading every year, I am having to pull out as much… wherever and whenever I need to rescue other plants..this is ‘Coreopsis’ so beware!

and more

Rosa Rugosa

Rosa ‘Mundi’ :)))

More Coreopsis here

Let me out! This border is in the secret garden, it is 5 feet deep 50 ft long, the Coreopsis runs behind this lot, it will soon reach over 5 feet height and overtake them all.

The end..for today:)))) so it was not all that bad out there, the garden coped very well even when it looked hopeless.

This is Mother Nature telling us something, she cannot speak, she lets us know by her action, it is for us to suss it out.

You have a beautiful garden Michaella, so many different rooms, and Brandons garden is lovely too. So much land you have.

Love it all Michaella, glad you were able to get out into your garden it is looking very lush and very pretty. Fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow. It is amazing how the weather seems to right itself, I am hoping it will remember soon that we do need to dry up a little before the autumn sets in though. Maybe we shall get an Indian Summer, here's hoping for it :o) thanks for sharing your bit of sunshine it was greatly needed :o)

:) I am so glad the sun came out for you, your garden is surviving this rain really well and looks lovely. I love your living arches, how did you make them? I have a wisteria that I am trying to arch and I never thought of trying to do a living one so any tips would be gratefully appreciated.

Everything has settled in and looks brilliant despite all the rain it's had to contend with. Well done Michaella you have turned it into a magical garden.

I could spend hours wondering around your wonderful garden Michaella. i too went for a wonder around tonight expecting the worse , but everything seemed fine.

Isn't your Rosa Mundi wonderful M? So pretty and your roses seem to be standing up to the rain much better than most of mine are....sigh...oh well.

Thank you all so much for your comments, it stayed dry since then, it was just so nice to be out there for the little time I had left.

What a lovely garden with all its 'rooms!' A lot to enjoy! :o)

You've got many interesting plants Michaella, and I like the way your garden is divided up. Your roses are lovely.
I've never been able to grow Coreopsis. It always dies on me.

Many thanks Nariz and Hywel, I am surprised to hear that Hywel as it is a real thug here.

Marion1, I make the 'Living Arch' by planting 2 conifers, preferably 'Leylandii' Trees opposite each other about 3 to 4 feet apart, when they reach about 5 to 6 feet I then tie them together to make an arch shape, I leave the ties in for some years till they get use to the idea, hey presto! you have a living arch which will never rot or weaken for years :))

Thanks Michaella, I will just have to make do with my wisteria as a tree as I have no room to plant another one lol....

Ok....:))))

beautiful garden you have Michaella:-))))))

Many thanks Junna, it is a passion I have.... to give my all to my garden, it is therapeutic, peaceful, teaches me great patience, relaxing, it brings me close to nature, above all it gives me great peace and serenity, I can go on and on. :)))

I know exactly what you mean, Michaella, I feel exactly the same about mine. I love the way you have divided it up into small rooms. Its a pity you couldn't video it as you walk around so that we can all feel we are there. I love every part of your garden, but I'm the same as Hyel, can't seem to keep coreopsis. I'm trying again with one small plant that my friend Elizabeth ( who you know as Libet) , grew me and so far its ok. Its had a struggle though as, firstly it got forgotten when my gardening friend watered for me while we were away, it had just recovered when a fox came in and left a present on it. Can you believe it, and it was only in a small pot!

Michaella your garden just goes on forever, looking very lush, and the roses are just wonderful, did not realize Coreopsis was such a thug, thanks for the warning.....

11 Jul, 2012

Hi Rose1949 and Dottydaisy2..The Coreopsis is such a thug, I am almost afraid to offer it to anyone, there must be something in my soil they love so much, they are more than weeds now, the roots are endless, it grows back so quickly after having been pulled out, the tiniest bit that may get missed grows back rapidly:(( Tell me about foxes, I used to have all sorts in my garden, I resulted to surrounding my whole garden with chicken wire netting for extra protection, now I don't have anything coming in..especially the dreaded rabbits.

11 Jul, 2012

We had six foot wire fencing it is jumping that, we are now going up to 9ft tonight in the hopes that it doesn't take up Pole Vaulting. lol :O)

11 Jul, 2012

lol, Barbara...I guess mine cannot be bothered to push through the brambles from next door to get it..you know the abandoned garden..actually I think someone may have bought the house, saw some people there looking and talking in the back garden.

11 Jul, 2012

Oh I do hope so Michaella that would be good if they got the garden all tidied up you would have less hassle from the bunnies etc. Fingers crossed someone has purchased and will get cracking soon on it. :o)

11 Jul, 2012

I look forward to that Barbara, not to mention the snakes, muntjacs, foxes etc which live there, I am also a bit worried who might move in, it has been so quiet not having anyone next door, my other next door neighbour is very quiet, she works nights and sleeps in the day, so it is quiet all the time. There are no children close by, so, I have been spoilt with quietness, I mean I love children, but not very keen on very noisy ones.

11 Jul, 2012

I know exactly what you mean. I love them but not the unruly ones, I can live without them, but love the ones who are willing to listen and learn. I hope you get some lovely neighbours and real soon.

12 Jul, 2012

lol...The ones who are willing to listen and learn....like my Brandy..:))))

12 Jul, 2012

Lovely garden Michaella. All those paths and circular lawns, so well kept. Corydalis Lutea is like your Coreopsis in our garden. We had a neglected garden next door and foxes took over there. Good neighbours moved in. They care well for the garden too. Hope your new neighbours are as good, quiet and helpful as ours are.

12 Jul, 2012

Many thanks Dorjac, I pray that I shall be as lucky as you there.... :)))

12 Jul, 2012

:O) You will be Michaella, your beautiful garden will make them so pleasant and they will take a great big leaf out of your book and hopefully take that wayward garden next door in hand. :o)

12 Jul, 2012

:))))

12 Jul, 2012

Nearly missed this one Michaella, your garden is always a pleasure to see, I have always liked it, you always seem to have another project on the go in one of your many rooms.

Thank you so much for your comment Lincslass, the problem is, I never plan to do anything, I tend to do things on impulsive, once I get an idea, I just have to get on with it or I get restless. :((
