Wildflowers

Well, as I have not much time on my hand to take pictures and take them off the camera, I am grateful for my daughter’s emails, always illustrated with nice pictures.
A few days ago she was walking with Molly behind the hospital, where some foresty area is, untouched by man, right in the middle of the city. No development there, just nature. It is early spring now, but she was surprised to see the place full with lovely wildflowers, usually not due to appear until October. I think she’s a bit like me, always carrying a camera with her. Nowadays with these small camera’s nobody has an excuse not to have a camera with them.
She found these lovely Donkey Orchids ( Diuris longfolia ), Cowslip Orchids ( Caladenia flava ), the yellow pealike flower Bacon and Egg ( Eutaxia obovata ) and some pretty blue ones I don’t know the name of. I will have to look them up in my wildflowers of WA book.
I thought friends on GOY would love to see them too.

Thank you all kindly for your comments. Wagger, this is not Perth but Mandurah, a rather large city with abt 10 000 population. Well, large to our standards that is. It is a country town, but also a tourist town as it has lovely beaches and sunny weather, 3 months without rain at least.
Most wildflowers grow on the scarp and in the Jarrah forest, that's why we were so surprised to find them there. Jarrah of course is Eucalyptus marginata.

Just had a look on Google Earth - what a lot of swimming pools, and a lot of the lots look a lot bigger than some of your cities (Excuse all the lots)

Wagger thanks for your interest. Swimming pools are a must, really, because the summers are long, hot and dry and just a visit to the beach is not going to solve that problem. You've got to take a dip every hour or so when it is 40 degrees! We've always had pools ourselves too, it really is nu luxury in Oz. Thanks Sandra for admiring the wildflowers too.
