Molly on holidays
Molly on holidays

I’d like to share with you the nice pics my daughter send me when she went with her friend to the South and rented this lovely cottage.

It was set with some others in nice surroundings close to the beach. It is rather sheltered there and the day temps are nice but at night they had the woodfire going, which was very romantic. Molly was allowed to come and even in the cottage. They have tiled floors. But dogs are not allowed on the furniture, which would have been hard to follow, as at home Molly is allowed on the sofa, haha. She was lying right on top of the opened bag of my daughters, as if she was going to make sure she was not going to be left behind.

In the grounds they have a nice fenced area especially for dogs to run around freely. Of course you have to make sure that the dogs are sociable and don’t start fighting. But it is winter there and not many tourists were using the accommodations, no other dogs. They walked on the beach and in the forest.

Thanks Bernieh for your kind comment. I love that little blue wren etched on the door, it gives an Art Deco impression I think.

It certainly does. Actually I've always wanted to see one of those beautiful blue wrens.

Bernieh, I will return to the forest and shall see them again. We had little families of them living in our gardens on the farm. Every spring mum and dad would come out with new babies, but not until they were nearly the same size. Still they were fluttering their wings and screaming like wild pigs, having their mouths open all the time. We used to sit under our pergola armed with flyswats in the marshfly season and hit the things. No sooner was one lying on the ground, or the parents wren came to pinch it away, feeding it to their ever screaming babies. So funny. So I hit them, one by one, these marshies of course. Even with my bare hand and they used to smell rather nice, like buttered sweet lollies, no wonder the wrens loved them! The marshflies I had seen sucking nectar from the jasmin flowers, no wonder they tasted good.
Ever since leaving WA I have missed my little birdies. The red robin, the fairy blue wren, the spoonbills, the New Holland honey eaters. So I am glad I will see them all back. Not to forget the magpie. There are none in the NT nor in FNQ.
Thanks for reading my blog.

How lucky were you and now you're going back .. so lucky! That's a great story - helping out those mother wrens like that!! Lol! With spring upon us, I was just thinking that you'd get to see some fantastic wildflowers over there as well. Years ago hubbie, kids and I drove around W.A. and I vividly remember the wildflowers out around New Norcia - just stunning!

Love the mermaid and the blue fairy wren story, Marguerite. I saw them near Echuca in Victoria on a visit a few years ago, and I was SO gobsmacked I just stood and watched them, forgetting to take the photo!

Thanks Shirleypoppy and thanks for the info. I will be on the lookout for them as I am going through Echuca in a few weeks. So, you can relate to my stories having been on this continent. Nice to know! The little wrens are soooo pretty and sweet.
What gets me, and that is not only the little wren, that so many tiny birds can make such a big racket when opening their little beaks, lol.

What a lovely spot - there aren't too many places that let you take your dog with you! Great photos - thanks Marguerite. Your daughter sure looks like you! Excuse me while I drool over that lovely green lawn!!! Around here everyone's lawn is a rather dull shade of brown.
