A buyer.
A buyer.

Well, just before I am taking off tomorrow we got good news. We have a buyer for our house, we’ve signed some contracts, so if all goes well we should be leaving here on November 1st, maybe sooner if they manage to sell their house before.
Someone else is going to look at our place on Thursday but I won’t be there, so hubby has to make things look presentable. You never know, we might even have another buyer waiting in the wings. Always good to have a back up, if one falls through.
I’ve given all sorts of instructions and I hope he can follow them up, lol.
Garden needs watering, fish need feeding, veranda’s sweeping. And if he wants to fry something he is only allowed to do it on the barbie, haha.
We are having lovely weather lately, 28-30C so have been swimming again. It is a bit nippy when first getting in, but then it’s really good. The dogs even enjoy it.
We’ve had visitors all week so I haven’t been able to do much internetting. They’ve left this morning and all is quiet again after spending the day cleaning and washing. But it was great to see our old friends again, they flew in from Victoria.
We went for a pic nic again to our favourite spot, Babinda, where the Boulders are right in the rainforest and we still had waterfalls to admire, despite the fact that it’s been so dry, 3 months without rain now.
On the way home we stopped as on a quiet road we saw the sugarcane harvesting machine, which always facinates me. Here are some pictures of it.
Well, must put some pics here and then it’s off to pack.
Can’t wait to see the family and the new dogs Molly and Tizer ( my granddaughters staffy ) and of course Jeremiah, the baby.

Yes indeed, Marguerite, sounds like the best news - hope it will all go as planned now and you can get out to the west coast. Have a great holiday. And don't worry - husbands can be trusted. I'm sure he'll do all that's needed.

Great news on the eve of your holiday. Have a good trip and enjoy all your cuddles.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments.Theoldgunner, yes I know it will have cold winters, but the summers will have sunshine, which I missed so much in the tropics. It just poured and poured, as summer is the rainy season and that is when it is warm. Then in winter it is dry and still lovely but the water in the pool too cold to swim. Just started swimming again last week.
I know the plants will be different too, but in the area where we will move to is no frost, so anything goes really. I am aiming for Calistemons and Grevillea's and other natives, so as to attract many birds.
Elke, yes, the house was still standing so hubby did do a brilliant job, lol.
I did have lovely cuddles and had a great time, even though it was only 4 days. Still tired from the trip and flight though.
Well, good news. The buyer wants to settle earlier, so we might even get away a few weeks sooner than thought. Still not cheering, as the contract is not unconditional, but should be so this week. So it's getting exciting.

Excellent news, Marguerite, congratulations - hope it all goes smoothly for you.

Yes, the house is sold! We should be on our way early October. Now all I have to do is....a whole list of things, lol. Most important keeping the garden alive and green.

Fantastic, Marguerite!
Its sold!
Congratulations! Do you have another house yet?

That's great news Marguerite. Sorry, I only just found this blog update by chance, don't know how I missed it. Glad to hear you've been for another visit to your family and had more cuddles with Jeremiah.
Good luck with all the packing up ......and watering!

Thank you everyone for your interest in our house. Madperth, no we haven't got a house yet. When I was over last week I looked at 4 houses, but all disappointing and they didn't look in reality what they pretended to be on internet.
So we are going to be without a roof over our heads, well the carroof we have, lol. We don't mind, it is a great adventure in its own and we love challenges. When we get at our destination we just settle in a cabin on a caravanpark. There is one where you can have your pets in with you. From there we will start searching and daughters will look after the doggies when we do that. If we can't find anything within a week, we will buy a block and build a new house. Meanwhile we will have to rent one.
A new house will mean gardening from scratch....but the block we buy will have vegetation on, like Eucalyptus and Xanthorea ( grass trees ). We've seen a few blocks for sale. It should be an interesting time. But I will keep you posted on the progress.
First things first: packing and getting there, lol.
14 Sep, 2009
such an exciting time for u. ;-))
14 Sep, 2009
Second thing - writing blogs of journey for us all - lol.
14 Sep, 2009
I wish you plots & plots of luck! (A 'block' would be called a plot here!)
Of course you'll need your internet connection so you can update us! Good luck, & happy adventuring!
14 Sep, 2009
Thank you friendly people. Yes, yes, a plot is also used here. Of course Wagger, I will keep a diary and work things out to a blog. Boy, oh boy, hubby nearly forgot to mention the garden hoses to the removalist as he was making an inventary so he can work out the volume. He hopes it all fits into a sea container, if not, we'll leave our bed behind, I've wanted a new one for some time anyway, lol.
We've decided to take the dogs baskets in the trailer, as some cabins allow the dogs inside and so we can sleep them in their own bed.
All day I spent looking on internet for accommodation, distances etc. Then to check if some new houses were on the market, but helas, nothing suitable. But I've learned never to give up hope....
16 Sep, 2009
We'll all keep our fingers toes & eyes crossed for you!
16 Sep, 2009
Thanks Madperth. Right now I am concentrating on the packing, which I made a start of today.
17 Sep, 2009
Oooh! NOT FUN!
17 Sep, 2009
Good luck with that - it's always such a lovely surprise to UNPACK your belongings at the other end. Hope your house search will turn up something really perfect for you.
17 Sep, 2009
I've been here 2 years now & STILL haven't finished unpacking!!! Thats the problem with downsizing, I suppose!
17 Sep, 2009
Thank you Elke and Madperth for your comments.
I have shifted 3 times in 5 years when I finally get there and that is enough! We are not really downsizing yet.....
The two houses we will look at when we get there, if they are still available have no gardens yet. So I keep my garden tools handy! They both have an irrigation system, like pop up sprinklers, but no lawns, shrubs or trees. Well in one are a couple of trees, which were on the block already. And one house needs a few truckloads ( at least 10 I'd say ) of dirt put on behind the retaining wall, meaning we'll have to spend money there, get a bobcat in to do the landscaping. I am not going to run around with wheelbarrows anymore at my age and with my shoulder. But I love planting and caring for things, so we will create a lovely native garden so as to attract the birds.
One is on an acre block, the other on 1500 m2 and the last one has fences, the one acre block has farm fences, and a lovely view, but of course a bit away from the conveniences. We've always been farm people and lived on large blocks.....it will be hard to be fenced in.
The packing is going very well, am halfway there and we'll have two more weeks!

Sounds great, I hope you get your Ideal home!! Good luck with it all! I know the feeling, I used to move around a lot too! Even as a kid! Hopefully I can stay put now (unless I come into enough money to buy MY dream hovel!!)

So pleased that you've got a buyer, Marguerite. Hope it all goes through smoothly. Enjoy your time with your family. I'm sure your husband will follow your instructions to the letter :)
Look forward to seeing photos of baby, dogs and anything else interesting whenever you can.
