Pruning roses.

Pruning roses.

Posted on 28 Jul, 2009 21 comments

Well, the big day of our auction is approaching. This weekend we might be lucky enough to sell the house, so I am doing last minute weeding and cutting off dead things. The dry season always has dead leaves and semi dormant plants. But the last few days have been very cloudy and a little bit of drizzle, so that is good for the lawn.
Today I had more pruning requests from my daughter. Now it’s her roses. Unfortunately she cannot take the computer into the front garden where the roses are in full sun. So she took pictures of them. She was also given rose bushes by a friend, who dug them up from her garden.
Now we have been saving the pictures in my photo studio and there I have been putting red crosses on the branches on the spots where she has to cut them off. Then sending them back to her, lol. Then back came a picture with questions on the next step. There’s one large on in the middle, a fat one, which has to come out. So I had to find a picture of either longer and stronger secateurs, or a pruning saw, telling her to buy one. Or, ask her brother to come along with a small thin saw, haha.
I can just imagine how she’s going about it.
Then another picture was sent to me with the whole front garden. Please could I mark where the other bushes should be planted. And so I did. I also adviced to get rid of her weeds and grass, making a bed of them and mulching on top. Looks always neat and tidy.
Ohh, for internet, what would we do without it?

Yay, I agree Wagger, Good luck M. I have seen Australian style auctions on the tv here in UK. They either go mad for it or just stand there looking dumb, well I think we all want to see them fighting each other off and sending the price through the roof.

You will be staying on GoY though, won't you?

Ohh, thank you everyone for your kind words. These sure will help. I am going to be outof the way, or else the dogs will spoil things, as they go bananas when people come, they twirl around them and bark, lol. Hubby will stay. Of course I let you know how it went.
Thank you Wagger for your compliment. I had to get hubby though, and he told me where to cut the branches so I just put the red x's there. He's the one who always pruned all our rosebushes and I used to have about a dozen of them in my old garden. This is my daughter's first garden and she is learning quickly.
Of course I will be staying on GOY. I am even taking my laptop on the long journey with me, so I can post pics from on the way. No, GOY is the friendliest internet site I've ever been on, so it's part of my life,

Yes, we know the are very well, as we lived there for 37 years. It has much more sunshine than here, which is probably hard to believe, being in the tropics now. So we will be going "home" as it were. Our children, grandkids and friends live there and we miss them more than we imagined, lol. So we're heading south west, right to the other side of the continent. Ian, I probably haven't mentioned it before, so you didn't miss anything. I'm a bit like you, lol, forgetful.
We've even become great grandparents two weeks ago and would love to see the little babe.
Well, back to watering the garden.

We'd love to see a photo of him/her if you have one yet. You, your daughter/son and your granddaughterson must have married at 16!

30 Jul, 2009

Oh Wagger, you love puzzling don't you? I am 66, got married at 23. My daughter is 42, my son 40, and the youngest daughter is 36,lol. My son got married at 21 and his daughter now is 19 and she has the new baby boy. See, it's not that hard now, is it? Wink, wink.
Well, I will put a picture for you in my photo's but will take it off again shortly after. It's best not ever to have children's pics on open internet sites.
