Happy New Year
Happy New Year

Just wishing all the members here a very healthy and Happy New Year. There will be fireworks at the esplanade tonight, but I doubt if anyone will come. It is pouring with rain and we’ve had 2 inches of rain ( 50mm ) last night. Pretty wet. I shall just watch the ones on telie, if I am still awake by then.
I hope this blog will get posted, as I cannot access any pictures comments, I keep getting a page saying: sorry we’ve made a mistake. Too bad, I shall try again tomorrow.
All you people in the snow in the Northern Hemisphere I hope you can get out to get some nice food and champaign to cheer in the new year. You must have such a wonderful atmosphere there, snow for Christmas, snow, snow. It all adds to the festivities, something I miss here.
As we live isolated there really is nothing that even reminds you remotely to this time of the year. Well, if you walk the dogs after dinner when it is dark, you will say some peoples houses all decorated with lamps outside, father Christmasses, sleighs, trees, etc. They even hang lamps in their trees, some are an eysore as they flash like you are on a funfair. Anyway, on Christmas they were already experiencing with their fireworks, as we had a beautiful Christmas day and night, clear skies all the way. But tonight they might have trouble igniting. We shall see, or rather, hear if they succeed. I always feel so sorry for the animals, they just hate it don’t they?
Well, see you all back in the New Year!

Happy New Year Marguerite!
I love the fireworks. I'm about a 10 minute drive from city centre or ( 5 to 6 kms) where they lite them off and I can here them go boom! I would have to climb up on my roof to watch. I think not though as I'm able to slip off with all that snow and the pitch.
I understand about the animals I have had many dogs and none cared for them.
Want to borrow a sponge for all that rain? Seems a lot of the world is getting a deluge of precip of some form or another. We have been inundated with snow for over a month now and more in the forecast.

Happy new year.
My boy's want to stay up till midnight (they usually never make it as they fall asleep) as there are always loads of fireworks going off in the area. No need to purchase any.
Have a good evening wherever you all live.

I always keep the cat locked indoors when there are fireworks on the village green. I used to keep cockatiels and budgerigars in an outside aviary and went out to see if they were ok on guy fawkes night. They were all sitting in a row watching the fireworks going off - seemed to be enjoying it.

Wow, never thought I'd get so many comments. I thought you'd all be too busy cheering in the new year. Well, it will be new year here in half an hour and we might just clinck some glasses of cider. Very quiet here. I have just been talking to my sister on skype and although she's 9 hours behind us, I could hear the fireworks going off in her area. She doesn't even live in suburbia, but in the country amidst farmers. She's looking after her children's dogs, as they all go out and don't want the dogs to be left home alone with all the noise going on.
The rain has eased a bit and there probably will be a fireworks display on the beach.
I have to laugh Wagger as I could just picture your budgies etc. sitting their perched on their stick watching the fireworks, lol.
Pink floyd, a sponge will not suffice I am afraid. That rain you know is quite normal here this time of the year as we have to get the average of 2 meters in 4 months! I just love the heavy tropical downpours, especially when I am dry in bed.
Thank you all for your good return wishes, have a nice evening, Marguerite.

~A very happy 2009 Marguerite!

Happy 2009 Marguerite. It is 6.50 pm here, so a little over 5 hours to go.
Today it has been extremely cold here, freezing fog most of the day with it coming down heavier tonight. We spend the evening with a bottle of something bubbly and Jools Holland's ' Hoot Nanney 'on the tele!
We are out in the country and none of our immediate neighbours set off fireworks, so our animals are fine.

Lol Pink floyd, have you kissed that quickly? 3 Mins after midnight and back on the computer? Glad you didn't go on your roof, you would have had to borrow father Christmas' sleigh, so you wouldn't fall off and the poor guy is glad his job is done for the year.
Well to you, Pottygardener and Arlene best wishes for this year. Hope you all cold people will get some reprieve soon. It's been lovely here, all the time the mornings bring sun and clouds in the afternoon, then rain in the night. Just how I like it. We had another inch, so that is not too bad. The river is a bit higher, but the otherwise so clear water is now a raging mudflow. You wouldn't believe it, but this morning I went over the bridge and noticed people swimming in that! A lady in bikini's was standing in the mud, whilst her Alsations were swimming. Some people have funny ideas how to celebrate the New Year.
Our shops are open on New Year's day, well the supermarkets at least. I needed things and stocked up just in case we get a deluge.
Another night with terrific noise, those little green tree frogs are going banana's in the heliconia's, which grow next to our bedroom. But in the end, you just fall asleep, regardless.

No No Marguerite PM! I was busy at 12:03 am but that is my dirty lil secret! lol! Well it's 2009 and my clock says 5:05 in the morning I have had no sleep as yet. I can not sleep. Now a new year I just pray it is better for me than last year. Marguerite I have not talked to you since last year how have you been?

Hppy New year Marguerite.
We're used to rain here but at the moment it's rather frosty.
I agree about fireworks. I don't like to see them or hear them.
