Spring or autumn.

Spring or autumn.

Of course it is spring here now, but never mind. I wrote this poem last year in the autumn.

Spring or Autumn?

When I hear
that Spring is near
I know it is not here
it’s nearly autumn dear!
Spring is coming to the North
and brings tulips and so forth.
In my garden leaves will fall
and rains will ease as I recall.
The autumn brings the dry;
the water birds will cry,
congregate in the billabong
and bring their friends along.
The frogs will burry in the ground,
not one of them will be found.
It will be quiet without rain,
that tickytacky nice refrain.
But sunshine gives you energy
and clear skies and far to see.
The rosewood tree will lose her coat
and all the leaves will drift afloat.
I don’t mind, the mud be gone.
Soon the sprinklers will be on.
We try to keep the grass green
as in the summer seen.
The night be cool;
I’ll need some wool.
But I love the autumn time.
Gone are the mud and grime.
From the South the birds will fly in
escaping the cold with a grin.
Nice to hear the new sound
in the trees and all around.
Yes, it is here upside down,
in this funny little town.
Well, have a happy spring
and let your birds sing.

Marguerite.
