Just a short note to say I am back at GOY and back in my own bed. I’ve had the flu, which I caught in the last week in Holland, not very nice. I must catch up with all your comments and reply and then post new pics and then I can visit your pages again dear friends.
This is still my favourite passtime here at GOY.
OK, seeyah soon,Marguerite.

Hi Marguerite,
That's what comes of going to foreign climes! Hope you have recovered and are ready to show us lots more luscious plants!

Hi Marguerite,
I hope you are feeling better. I am recovering from flu as well. We went away at the weekend to celebrate a friends birthday at a hotel. Unfortunately we had to return home early because I felt so poorly.I'm better now but Alan has caught the virus, and is feeling poorly today.
All best wishes, and take it easy.

Ohh, I am flattered! All you good people welcoming me back, thank you so much. The flu is nasty, I haven't been sick for years, as we don't see many people. But of course in Holland people kiss each other all the time and we had no resistance to this virus. A lot of people in Europe are getting it now, as the cold weather is coming. But at least we were still fine when all the parties were on and my mother loved every bit of it.
I have taken some pics of nature things, but I think most of you European citizens will know all the plants anyway.
Still, not many have been to the islands in the North of Holland, where we spend a few days with friends. I had never been there, it is lovely and so dog friendly. You are allowed to walk the dogs on the beach, in the dunes, the forests ( yes, there even are trees! ) off the leash, but only have to have them on the leash in the breeding season of the ground birds.
I will put on some pics now. Toodeloo.

Nice to see you again Marguerite. Know what you means about the kisses - it happens here in Spain. I've been laid low many a time by this cultural exchange of germs! Keep well.

Hello Nariz. In Australia we have adopted the English way of greeting. Only when meeting someone for the first time in your life and being introduced one shake hands. After that it is only a "how are you" with a nod of some kind. I think healthier in one way. They even kiss 3 times in Holland, grrrr. I like the way how you described it: a cultural exchange of germs, lol.

Hi Marguerite. Hope you are feeling better now. I agree I hate all this kissy kissy expecially from British ex-pats.

I thought something must have happened to you. Nice to have you back again. Being back home is the best medicine. Best Wishes.

Glad to know you are feeling better, Marguerite, and happily back home.
Did you know that kissing helps to strengthen the immune system ? It seems our immune system needs practise to become stronger and more adaptable, so able to cope with new strains of germs. By the exchange of germs our immune system is given a workout and becomes better able to fight the next batch of germs. One treatment for bladder cancer is to stimulate the immune system to fight the cancer cells by flooding the bladder lining with BCG, so the immune system reacts as if it is fighting tuberculosis and attacks the cancer cells as well.

What does BCG stand for and can I buy it from the chemist - lol.

Hi Marguerite - nice to see you back, but sorry you've been ill. I'm sure you are glad to be home, aren't you?

Oh yes Spritzhenry. I've been back for over one week now and the sun here has made me better. I am back to normal, functioning 100% again. Xela, we don't know anybody here where we live. Australians don't kiss anyway, they don't even shake hands. But germs find their way regardless, just listen to all the coughing people in the shopping centres etc. I had not been ill for at least 6 or 8 years, but this virus hadn't reached our continent yet and I arrived in the middle of it in Holland.
Well, that is a thing of the past now. Summer here and I am working hard to get the garden tidy before the heavy rains fall. Once it is wet, it is too dangerous to be out in the garden, as there are many waterborne diseases here. Inhaling mold is not good for the lungs, if you have a cut on your feet or hands, you can get these germs into the bloodstream. Tropical paradise then is transformed into a danger zone.
