Where are the flags???
Where are the flags???

This is not a blog about gardening. I am just asking Peter what happened to our flags? Have I missed something? I just loved seeing the flag when hovering over a members ID picture, so we know where they come from. Also handy to know where the plants they are showing are growing.
Please bring back our flags Peter…..
Who else is missing them? Perhaps it is a hic up in my PC?

Hi Marguerite,
The flags are still working for me, but someone else asked about this the other day so I guess something stopped working.
I'll look into it and get back to you.
Cheers

No flags here either!

The flags are missing here has well!?! I hadn't noticed until Marguerite said something....
21 Aug, 2008
Flags flying here OK
21 Aug, 2008
No flags here either!

We think that the high winds in Bristol have blown our flag away, and it would be a very 'soggy' flag with all the rain we have had!
21 Aug, 2008
No Flags here...I blamed it on me. Hmm, nice to know it's not my fault. BRING 'EM BACK GUYS....please.
21 Aug, 2008
I'd noticed a lot of flags are missing too
21 Aug, 2008
Strange, I have some with and some without. I have also gotten confused on some members who say they are one place but flag shows different.
21 Aug, 2008
I've no flags either, just the members name - which is on the other side of the comments anyway!
21 Aug, 2008
Nul flags here. Would quite like some please!
21 Aug, 2008
I have flags.
If some are missing, let's blame the Olympics.
Maybe some of the flags are being used in Beijing. They'll be home soon with their gold medals.
21 Aug, 2008
I can't see any flags but I don't know what country most of them are anyway.
21 Aug, 2008
Hello Hywel,
Just to let you know I can see a lovely Welsh flag on your message.
21 Aug, 2008
Can you Terratoonie ? I can't see it nor anyone else's. Nothing on yours either.
21 Aug, 2008
My flag is a union flag, even though my dog in the photo is a Welsh Terrier.
We should maybe borrow your dragon one, eh. Hywel. lol
21 Aug, 2008
You could have the English flag if you wanted. I didn't have the Union flag because Wales isn't represented on it.
And the Welsh flag shows what part of Britain I'm from.
21 Aug, 2008
I dont see no flags either.
21 Aug, 2008
That's interesting, Hywel.
I'm not sure that the English flag is an option available.
Everyone in England seems to have the Union Flag.
Has anyone on GOY got the English flag next to their photo?
21 Aug, 2008
I am quite new to the site and have never seen a flag, but that would be good :-) uk

I have a queation about Weedings flag. Is there really a place called Worcestershire in Namibia? It's a very nice flag.
The Welsh ones are great too.
21 Aug, 2008
Marguerite.
You must be amazed at all the response to this blog !
Chrispook.
I'm guessing Weeding is in Worcestershire, England, but she wanted an unusual flag,so she put in Namibia. Pretty flag !
However, Geography isn't my best subject, so I wait to be corrected by others who have travelled more widely.

My Flags have Gone 2 :( i noticed that few days ago myself? :)
21 Aug, 2008
Thank you all for your response. This is really to flag or not to flag, lol. I am glad half of you people cannot see the flags on your avitar either, which means there is nothing wrong with my computer. And the best prognoses is from Peter: He will look into it.
Strange though, when some can and some can't see their flag. And for those who didn't know yet: we cannot choose a flag, it comes when you fill in your membership application, because you fill in your country and perhaps if you like the place where you live.
I just hope we all can see our flag wave in the wind again soon. I do love my Aussie flag! Thank you all again.
22 Aug, 2008
The Aussie flag is flying well next to your avatar on my screen, Marguerite, and it says Queensland below it. :-)
I am so pleased when the flag is accompanied by the region/state/county, regional differences have such a heavy influence on gardening activities and often this information is significant in fully understanding a post

Total agreement from me on that one Xela. Just the country is of limited help!
22 Aug, 2008
Hooray! The flags are back! (7.15 p.m.) Thanks Peter/Ajay!
22 Aug, 2008
Hi everyone, just to let you know the flags should be back now. If you can't see them at first try refreshing the page (press the F5 key on Windows).
If you're curious to know why some of you had problems while others didn't, it's to do with internet browsers. Internet Explorer was one which had problems.
By the way, I have St. George's Cross thanks to Hywel's request to have the country's individual flags :o)
P.S. Blimey - you noticed while I was writing that Spritz!! You're welcome :o)
22 Aug, 2008
F5 worked a dream, thanks Peter.
22 Aug, 2008
Thanks, Peter.
I switched to the English flag from Union flag and it worked straight away.
22 Aug, 2008
Good job Peter. All flags are flying in my browser now.
Thanks!!
22 Aug, 2008
YESSS! I've got a St.George's flag now! Thanks Peter. Also thanks Terratoonie for telling me I could!
22 Aug, 2008
Oh wow, now I have flags too, for the first time!
My apologies to Chris and anyone else I've confused. I picked Namibia to be cheeky. I think I was previously Bahrain or somewhere equally silly.
My Worcestershire is of course in GB.
BTW, the reason probably no-one wants an English flag (yet) is because we all grew up being terribly careful to call ourselves British.
Also, the St George's Cross sadly has yobbish connotations. I spose it needs reclaiming.
22 Aug, 2008
I just did, Weeding, and so did Terratoonie. I am definitely not a yob, either.
22 Aug, 2008
'Yobbish connotations' ? Never. I think it's something to be proud of. I can't understand why more people don't choose it. I actually asked if I could have the Welsh flag because Wales doesn't appear on the British one, but I also think it's nice for people in England and Scotland to have their own flags. It shows what part of Britain you're from. Best wishes , Hywel.

Spritzhenry,
Certainly no offence intended. My comment was referring to the way that flag is flown from houses/cars, more than chosen in this kind of situation.
Glad to see people like their flag still though.
On a completely different note, while I'm here I must THANK all who post such beautiful and interesting photos and blogs on this site! I've found them so therapeutic the last couple of weeks to gaze on and read, while the news from my extended family, healthwise, has been very worrying indeed. Many thanks.

Xena, that is what I missed most about missing everyone's flag, not knowing where they live and what effect that would have on their garden. Now the flags are back we can go back to business. Thanks Peter, even though my Macintosh didn't get the flags either, and that PC doesn't use windows, lol. But now I can see I am going to have to learn about flags, since in Britain they now can flag their Welsh, Scottish and Irish flags too.
But we all should be proud of our flags. It gives us an identity, and even though I wasn't born here, I feel 100% Australian. Thanks again Peter and I guess this blog has beaten all records with comments, lol. Thank you all for participating.
