Silver Surfer LoL! Good one TT, USA is still Imperial but Canada switched to metric in the 90's..but just like you Hamish Im too old to think in Metric, I cope by knowing a few markers like 10cm =4inches so I am constantly translating...Your garden looks great, love the gravel idea. Did you put anything under the gravel to keep down weeds?

Better known as the "Scoop" Shovel it does great work moving snow ...has been used for giving small children a ride if you can imagine it as a rickshaw for the snow. The neighbors had a good laugh when they saw me and I dont think quite believed my explanation ...thinking Ive gone completely bonkers Im sure :D
England has the greenest green I have ever seen, lucky you...we have just been coming out of a drought which lasted around 8 years...sadly a lot of the lakes have lower water levels than anyone remembers seeing in the last 50 years..

The plaited woolly bits tie under the chin and above them are the much needed ear flaps lol, the red berries behind the hat are my bumper crop of crabapples - dried crabapples could be strung together for a garland tho dont you think..

I always keep a bin of leaves next to the compost pile and also some dirt and when I add my scraps (chopped up) I add some leaves and a bit of dirt...dig it in and fork up the pile..too much green without the brown material and you will notice more of a smell..and the flys! .do you have your compost in a sunny site? Perhaps it is too "wet"?

Wow, that was some wind, and you must have slept thru the storm? Your plants must be very hardy to survive a pummeling from the winter winds!

Some of my friends have reported infestation of "Dew Worms" which leave mounds all over the lawn. They are nearly impossible to get rid of! Like Fairy Ring...if you have Dew Worms...learn to love Dew Worms.!
Google search "Dew Worms" for lots of info on how to minimize the damage. Hope it is ants as Majeekahead suggests : )
