I realized I should ad a preamble to this blog…today while pruning my maple I discovered a plastic cobra attached to the top of my neighbour’s fence. At first I was fuming…because I wondered why the little birds weren’t around…suddenly I knew why!
I came inside and sat at my computer…opened goY and there was Bonkersbon’s picture of hand feeding a lovely little baby robin! My faith in humanity was sagging…but no more..thanks to BB and Jane I feel much better and I can actually laugh at this…check out the pic..you won’t believe it!

Here, my friends, is an example of someone who thinks they are being so humane…they put a rubber snake on their fence to keep the little birds from sitting there… I wish there was a snake big enough to get rid of them!! I’d use it! this is so funny, really. how pathetic. (they’re the same lot who put barriers beside the base of the fence so that the rabbits couldn’t get into their yard! Sad, Sad, Sad!

Just had the most wicked thought…I wish I could find a life-size anaconda!

I could send over a real snake (just saw one not long ago in the downstairs garden bed) - that would give them such a fright that I think they would prefer the birds!!!

.... but why would a person not want birds to sit on a fence ????

I'd take the snake down .... deny seeing it if they ask about it.
Idiots.

They're obviously Phillistines !! haha

Don't worry, Lori, give the birds a few days to get to the snake that doesn't move and they will be back on the fence and sitting on the snake.

And not just sitting on it either lol

Cant believe they went to all this trouble to deter them ..could understand if trying to protect them .

Agree with Bulbaholic and Moon grower esp as you so keen to have them in your garden ..good grief we have doves and pigeons nesting above the only place I can park .

I drive around in something akin to a giant mobile bird dropping ! Wouldnt they just love me as a neighbour lol

That made me laugh BB ..... a giant one !!!

im with Louise, why on earth would you want to stop the birds from coming into your garden. some people are unreal , i just dont understand that at all

They're obviously really wierd people!
Rabbits, I suppose I can see them not wanting (I've never worried about them, I like watching them!) but birds???
Strange people!!
Shame you couldn't "give" them a real snake!

We have a friend who is a very, very serious alpine gardener. Dotted around his garden are wee heads and beasties - the sort of thing kids can stick on the end of their pencils - stuck on canes in odd places... now that I can get, but a snake.... oh well it takes all sorts.
As B & I have said once the birds realise it is a faux snake they'll be sitting on it making comments like 'What do those silly humans think they are playing at now?' and 'We must remember to bring the children here next year as a treat!' or 'Wonder what the next sculpture is going to be?'

I believe a lesson from Indypendent may be in order LOL
"And my neighbours love me oooo-oooo"

Call the RSPCA, insisting that you thought it was real and that you are terrified. Alternatively you could just buy a gallon of unleaded and set fire to their house.

TOTO! You're awful bloodthirsty tonight! LOL!

23 Aug, 2009

Yeah, great aint it.

Toto don't think the RSPCA work in Canada

We have a provincial society for the prevention of cruelty to animals... but they're busy taking care of dogs and cats...I was looking for a skunk relocation service a few years back...but they call themselves exterminators...so forget that!... Don't worry Madperth...I've learned that Toto has the quirky sense of humour..."a gallon of unleaded" lol.... they also say the good fences make good neighbours... I'm happy the fence is there... and my birds will be back soon enough...guess I went a little off the beam on this one...but it's a good laugh. I saw BB and Jane's pic of the little robin...and I felt better. Now if they were my neighbours we'd have a lovely time with our birds and squirrels and rabbits!

Think I'd get one of those decoy pigeons or ducks and stick that on the fence facing it LOL can you imagine your neighbours looking out the window and seeing that...... x-D
